The 2025 GMC Sierra HD builds on updates first introduced with the refreshed 2024 GMC Sierra HD, debuting a few small refinements to the heavy-duty truck lineup. As GM Authority covered previously, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD was initially available with a total of 19 different wheel options. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that one of these wheel options is currently unavailable to order.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the 17-inch Silver painted steel wheel (RPO code PYN) is currently unavailable to order. This wheel was previously equipped as standard on the Sierra HD Pro trim, and presents a basic five-spoke layout with oval cutouts. The 17-inch Silver painted steel wheel was also offered as an option for SLE models, although only through fleet or government sales orders.
As of this writing, it remains unclear when the 17-inch Silver painted steel wheel will once again be available for the 2025 GMC Sierra HD. For the moment, customers interested in the 2025 Sierra HD Pro will need to select one of the two alternative entry-level wheel options. The two available wheel options include:
- 17-inch machined aluminum wheel (RPO code PYQ) – $350
- 18-inch eight-spoke Silver Extended painted steel wheel (RPO code PYT) – $300
For a more detailed breakdown of all the wheel choices available on the 2025 GMC Sierra HD, including trim-specific options, check out GM Authority’s previous coverage.
As for what’s under the hood, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD continues to offer two engine choices, including the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower 464 pound-feet of torque, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Under the body panels, the 2025 Sierra HD rides on a more-capable version of GM’s T1 platform. Production for the 2025 model year once again takes place at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan.
