The 2025 Chevy Silverado HD follows the refreshed 2024 model year with a series of important updates, including the new Silverado HD Trail Boss, as well as new styling options and other tweaks. As covered previously, the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD initially offered a total of 19 different wheels designs. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that one of these wheels is currently unavailable to order.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the Silverado 2500 HD Work Truck’s (WT) standard 17-inch Silver painted steel wheels (RPO code PYN) are currently unavailable to order. It’s unclear at this time when the wheel will be available to order again.
The 17-inch Silver painted steel wheel includes a simple layout with five “spokes” broken up by oval cutouts around the perimeter of the wheel. The wheel was offered as standard on the WT trim level and optional on LT, although LT units only offered this wheel as part of a Fleet of Government sales order.
For now, customers who purchase a new 2025 Chevy Silverado HD WT will be required to choose one of the entry-level trim’s various optional wheel designs. These include:
- 17-inch machined aluminum wheel (RPO code PYQ, $350)
- 18-inch eight-spoke Silver Extended painted steel wheel (RPO code PYT, $300)
- 18-inch High Gloss Black aluminum wheel (RPO code PTW, included an only available with Alaska Snow Plow Special Edition)
Check out our previous coverage for a more thorough breakdown of all the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD wheel options, including each trim level.
As a reminder, the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD offers two powerplant options, including the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the 2025 Silverado HD rides on a more capable variant of the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Oshawa plant in Canada and the GM Flint plant in Michigan.

Simple reason.
Not enough “margin” on them to make more….
Agree with the above comments. Pick Ups are the most dishonest vehicles sold to consumers. It’s exactly like the GTO. when GM charged thousands more for a few tweaks and decals on basically a mediocre Lemans. Look at the variants on Pick Ups. King Ranch, High Country…of course GM doesn’t want to sell trucks with poverty cap wheels. That would be honest.
opting for any wheels of any vehicle is a scam. Say you don’t what said wheel (A) which is standard. Look up the wheel cost. I looked up a wheel that was $425.00 each or $1700.00.
Wheel (B) is $435.00 or $1740.00 or a $40.00 increase. is all you should pay for the wheel. You can’t order the wheel on the vehicles. You have to be out of your mind to buy option wheels from a dealer. After market are far better wheels. This is how dealers steal from the people
If the vehicle is built with a particular wheel that cost “X” to upgrade to, it’s on the window sticker. So to say dealers are ‘stealing’ is disingenuous at best….or you are simply uninformed, whichever fits the mold better.
I tried to configure a 2500 HD WT with the 18” wheels and it wouldn’t work.
GM’s wheel supplier for 17″ wheels went bankrupt. That is the real reason.
