The 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup is included in a new service update published by GM, which indicates some units are affected by a programming fault in the Brake System Control Module (BSCM).
The Service Update, number N232428991, describes how the brake system control module in affected Chevy Silverado trucks will not activate the Check Engine light or set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for certain emissions problems.
Specifically, the problem means that a DTC or Check Engine light will not activate if an issue with the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup’s emissions control system happens. Stability control and traction control problems, however, will correctly display warning lights and messages and set DTCs despite the improper BSCM programming.
The 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 BSCM problem doesn’t require any parts for the available remedy to be applied. The fix can be carried out with either an over-the-air (OTA) update or by direct reprogramming by dealership service personnel. The repair is free for the Silverado owner and is offered through February 29th, 2040.
The 2024 Chevy Silverado introduced several interior and exterior updates. One of the most important was the addition of the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine to the available list of Chevy Silverado ZR2 powerplants. This engine develops 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, while the GM 10-speed automatic transmission is mated to this engine. The ZR2 was previously offered exclusively with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine cranking out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Two other 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 engines included the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque as well as the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine developing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The latter was rebranded to TurboMax for the 2024 model year.
The GM T1 platform underpins the 2024 Silverado 1500 under the sheet metal. The model rolled off the production line at three facilities, namely the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

no lights, sounds like a blessing.
Does lower case gm have quality control departments or inspectors anymore? Articles daily about recalls from all manufacturers it seems.
WTF does a brake control module have to do with emissions issues?
Need a man that loves combustion engines running GM!
This can be repaired by gently releasing the child safety harness while tuning your radio to 0U812 and blowing on the horn.
