Some 2025 Corvette Units Need Body Control Module Reprogramming

The 2025 Corvette is the subject of a new service bulletin from General Motors, related to a Body Control Module (BCM) problem that causes a check engine light to display.

GM is now offering a fix for the problem which, according to Service Update N242487960, consists of reprogramming the 2025 Corvette BCM – free of charge to the owner – with no components required.

The issue causes the U1962 DTC (diagnostic trouble code) to set, which in turn makes the instrument panel Check Engine light switch on. The DTC is cleared and the warning light switched off by reprogramming the body control module. The glitch doesn’t appear to cause any additional problems beyond a DTC and warning light.

At this point, it’s unclear if the 2025 Corvette Stingray, 2025 Corvette E-Ray, 2025 Corvette Z06 or all three variants are involved in this service bulletin. The high-performance Chevy Corvette ZR1 is not included in the bulletin because production of that Vette configuration has not yet begun.

In other recent Corvette news, the 2025 Corvette C8 Stingray is offered with a new Gloss Black Forged aluminum wheel design (RPO code QE5) which joins two other five-split-spoke designs. The 2025 Corvette Stingray with the Z51 Performance Package gets a revised front splitter and a new rear spoiler, while four new Stingray appearance packages are also incoming and will become available in spring of this year, giving them the internal nickname of the “Stingray Spring Packages.”

The ultra-powerful Chevy Corvette C8 ZR1, motivated by the twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 LT7 engine developing a scorching 1,064 horsepower and 828 pound-feet of torque, recently set five lap records on four racetracks. The first production ZR1 has been auctioned for $3.7 million to Hendrick Automotive Group owner Rick Hendrick, who already has a collection of VIN 001 Vettes.

The Corvette design team has seen a recent shakeup as well. Corvette Product Marketing Manager Harlan Charles was pushed into early retirement at the start of February. Exterior Design Manager Kirk Bennion left at the same time under unknown circumstances after more than four decades at the company.

Meanwhile, orders for the 2026 Chevy Corvette will start being accepted from dealers on April 13th, 2025 and production is slated to kick off on June 2nd, 2025, though subject to possible change in the interim.

  3. Been a GM / Chevy guy all my life. I have a 25 SR on order sitting at 3000 level since late December. After 5yrs of building this car, GM still has constraints, service issues / recalls, Quality issues (dash board leather bubbling), etc. Add this to the stock price that sat in the low 30’s for years (except for the past 3 weeks after Trump was elected), and its time for the board to evaluate Mary’s performance and the vendors GM uses. At my age this will be the last new car I buy and I have serious doubts about it–even with all the hype. They announce the ZR1 and announce orders for the 26, yet can’t even build the current model correctly. GM lost me when they announced no more ICE vehicles – hence me buying the SR before they kill this icon of American sports car. . There other options yet GM thinks they can keep loyal customers? WAKE UP GM (Mary) !!!!!!!!!!!
