Some 2025 Chevy Equinox Units Need Fuel Injector Replacements

General Motors has issued a Customer Satisfaction Program related to a possible fuel leak for the 2025 Chevy Equinox crossover, with a fix available to current owners.

Customer Satisfaction Program N242489010 is in effect for affected 2025 Chevy Equinox units until February 28th, 2027, roughly two years and two weeks from the current date.

In 2025 Chevy Equinox units that have the problem, a fuel leak is known to occur on one of the four fuel injectors. These injectors are in the fuel rail assembly, and the leaking problem may happen with any of the four. For this reason, dealer service personnel are instructed to replace all four of the fuel injectors.

The repair requires four fuel injector assemblies, eight fuel rail bolts, and a fuel feed intermediate pipe assembly, which is also replaced. Since parts are limited for the time being, these items shouldn’t be ordered as shelf stock, but only when an affected 2025 Chevy Equinox crossover is confirmed as present. The remedy is applied free of charge and requires about two and a half hours to complete.

As a reminder, the 2025 Chevy Equinox introduces the nameplate’s all-new fourth generation. Pricing for the model starts at $29,995 for the LT trim in front-wheel drive and ranges up to a base MSRP of $36,395 for the all-wheel drive configuration of both the Activ and RS trims.

One powerplant is offered to motivate the Equinox, namely the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine developing 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque in FWD variants. It offers 203 pound-feet of torque in the AWD configuration. FWD units are equipped with the GM continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while AWD units utilize the GM eight-speed automatic transmission.

Under the sheet metal, the 2025 Equinox rides on an updated variant of the GM D2 platform. Production of the model takes place at the GM San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico.

  1. Here we go. Normally, I’d say to avoid first model years of all new or redone models but in this case, since the ’25 model year was so short, probably the ’26s too. If you can fit this thing in your garage. I can’t.

    1. You must have a very tiny garage, to match your hands?

      1. So, we know who’s a moron. New garages are narrow for 2 vehicles but must be extra wide in China. GM lost the memo. 3 extra, useless in the Equinox/Terrain case, inches, makes all the difference. Which is why the Mazda CX-50 and Mitsubishi Outlander are off the list also.

  2. Unbelievable!

  3. A fuel leak is an immediate safety issue, not something for a “customer satisfaction program”.

Is an actual leak required for GM to act, or can the customer say “Fix it!”?

    1. A leaking injector leaks fuel into the cylinder, not outside the engine. This causes the engine to run roughly/misfire. Unless you count vehicle stalling in the case of an extremely large leak, it isn’t a safety issue.
If it’s not leaking, there’s nothing to fix.

      1. Correct, as a leaking fuel injector, not line/rail. A leaking fuel line goes BOOM!

    2. I think the only way to know is if it runs rough or hard to start and sets a trouble code such as a misfire or rich condition, etc.

  4. Wouldn’t happen if it had the 3.6L.

    1. Correct. But the 3.6 would have oil consumption issues and timing chain issues!

  5. That’s concerning. Any word on how many might be affected?

  6. I’ve been buying from the General since 1997. I just can’t anymore, the quality is subpar.

  7. GM’s losing with mediocrity strikes again.

  8. Leaking injector could affect the lower end of the engine, bearings. Not good, it should be a recall and not limited to 2 yrs only for replacement.

  9. Prices increase along with recalls

  10. Wouldn’t this also affect the Terrain? Aren’t they built in the same plant?

  11. Gee I love my 25 rs Equinox. Came from a 2015 buck gs so I find the Equinox not powerful, but excellent for my driving style. I think GM has done a rerrific job .Attractive, comfortable, and affordable.
