An elite class of legendary NASCAR drivers will try their hand in the International Race Of Champions (IROC) in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, scheduled for August 13th through 16th, 2025 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Fans will have the opportunity to watch Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Bill Elliott, Ken Schrader, and Bobby Labonte do what they do best for the one-off IROC event.
Ray Evernham, who co-owns IROC and served as Gordon’s crew chief from 1993 through 1999, said that he’s thrilled to have the five NASCAR legends on board – and that IROC has been resurrected. The series, which seeks to test drivers’ raw skill by putting them in identical race cars, ran from 1973 until 2006 and was only revived in 2024. It will be a challenge for the NASCAR drivers, some of whom have never raced at Laguna Seca.
“I think this is the first time several of these drivers, including Jeff Gordon, have raced at Laguna Seca, and to do so during the renowned Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is something I know they will enjoy,” Evernham said in a statement. “I’m also excited to give fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with our drivers and the incredible group of IROC cars that will be on display.”
While Gordon might be at a disadvantage at the twisting road course, Martin might not be. Martin is the winningest driver in IROC history and boasts five IROC Series Championships. Labonte is also an IROC legend, having won the series championship in 2001.
Al Unser Jr. of the legendary Unser family will serve as honorary pace car driver. The IROC race compound will be located inside the paddock, giving fans unparalleled access to a “walk-through history” in one tent, while owners and drivers will be available in another tent.
“We want to engage with fans and make their visit one to remember,” Evernham said. “There will be autograph sessions, panel discussions and special merchandise available.”

Let’s go! Still miss those 3rd gen Camaros.
Dale Jr. Going to race also?
I have a souvenir from the inaugural Brickyard IROC race, it was a great event!
Ken Schrader? In his prime, he was just a back marker! Get rid of him! He’s just hanging on to collect $ and cheapens the racing.
thats your opinion. Most think differently.
GM needs to retro-3rd gen camaro and IROC-Z and bring it back in 2026. The Gen 3’s had awesome trunk space and better visibility then the outgoing model. The stance of the Gen 3’s was fantastic as well. come on GM do something exciting!
1000% agreed!!
