Customers have one final chance to buy the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup in the Slate Gray Metallic (color code GNO) exterior paint color during the week of February 3rd, 2025.
After the week of February 3rd, Slate Gray Metallic will no longer be available to order on the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500. The color will be built out after the week of March 17th, 2025.
Slate Gray Metallic is available at no extra charge on five trim levels of the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500, including the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, ZR2 and High Country trims. It is one of nine exterior paint colors offered on the 2025 pickup.
It’s unclear at this time if another paint color will replace Slate Gray Metallic. Notably, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (color code G1W) is no longer available to order and will be built out in late February 2025. The discontinuation of these two colors effectively reduces the remaining number of exterior paint options for the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 to seven on the order sheet.
The 2026 Chevy Silverado is expected to be the final year of the current fourth generation, as the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado is said to be already planned and will introduce the truck’s fifth generation. GM Authority offers some exclusive details on the upcoming changes that you may want to read up on.
The 2025 Silverado 1500 continues to offer four powerplant options. These consist of the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine developing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine cranking out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax providing 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
The Silverado is offered in two drivetrain configurations, two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. The L3B engine is mated to the GM eight-speed automatic while the other three engines utilize the GM 10-speed automatic transmission for cog swaps.
The pickup rides on the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

Seemed like a popular color. Odd decision.
GMC has the same color, and they call it Stormcloud Grey. I don’t get why people want this color. To me, it looks like they hit it with a good coat of primer, and a few coats of clear. Some folks may like it, but it just doesn’t appeal to me. I went with Sterling Silver on my 25 GMC, and I gotta say, it’s a far cry better looking than Slate Gray Metallic, or Stormcloud Grey, whichever you prefer to say.
I’m with you, it looks just like primer. I do like some metallic in my paint, so Sterling would be my choice by far.
Primer or not, it’s different. Three GMC dealers down here and the choices are Black, White, Silver. The salesman and I were laughing that colors now have to have cool names. Sterling Metallic, Downpour Metallic… Iridescent Pearl Tricoat which is a way to get you spend $1000 to paint your truck white.
I wish it was on the High Country I’d order one in a heartbeat with the 3.0 and heavy duty tow package but that’s a LIE!!!
