Here’s When 2026 Chevy Trax Production Is Scheduled To Start

General Motors launched the all-new Chevy Trax for the 2024 model year, debuting a completely overhauled second generation for the entry-level subcompact crossover. As GM Authority has covered in the past, the 2025 Chevy Trax introduced several important updates and changes over the 2024 model year, while the following 2026 Chevy Trax is expected to debut only few updates and changes over the 2025 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned when production of the 2026 Chevy Trax is scheduled to get under way.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Chevy Trax is currently scheduled for July 7th, 2025. Dealers will be able to begin submitting orders on May 15th. Note that these dates are tentative and may change.

Overall, critical reception of the new second-generation Trax has been positive, with Car and Driver granting the Chevy Trax a spot on the publication’s 10Best list two years in a row. Compared to the preceding 2024 model year, the 2025 Chevy Trax crossover offers two new exterior paint colors, including Cypress Gray (paint code GBD) and Marina Blue Metallic (paint code GKN).

Production of the 2026 Chevy Trax begins in July.

The 2025 Chevy Trax is one of GM’s most affordable models, with pricing starting at $21,495 for the base-level 1LS trim level, ranging up to $25,395 for the range-topping 2RS and Activ trims. To note, a destination freight charge of $1,095 is included in both prices. A total of five trim levels are offered, including 1LS, 1RS, 1LT, 2RS, and Activ.

As for what’s under the hood, the 2025 Chevy Trax now offers the new turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP gasoline engine. Unlike the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine offered for the 2024 model year, the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP is compatible with E85 fuel. Output remains identical to that of the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.

Under the skin, the second-gen Chevy Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, while vehicle production takes place at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.

  1. Now that the 2RS is getting the power seat as standard, hopefully the LT will get it as an option for ’26.

  2. I will be looking for GM to offer the Trax 2027 modal with all wheel as an option. I drove my sons 2 wheel Drive trax And I was impressed. Add power seat, power lift gate and I ` m sold.

  3. I wish they’d given this AWD. I get that the Trailblazer gas it of the two of them, but the Trax is just so much more pleasing to the eye.

  4. My personal view is, let’s have more emphasis on seating comfort, even at the expense of other ‘conveniences’ and gadgets. The automatic engine cut-out/restart should be eliminated for the infinitesimal saving offered during brief stops. If a long delay is anticipated (road works, train crossing, etc.) manually turn off the engine if desired, unless (say) necessary to support air-conditioning. Otherwise the undesirable persistent wear and tear on battery and mechanicals would surely outweigh any fuel cost saving. Eliminate the gimmicky foot-waving hatch opening for a small saving too – it frequently fails to open the hatch on my vehicle anyway, and the sluicing of winter dirt sometimes has the tailgate opening against my wishes in the automatic car-wash.
