General Motors launched the Buick Encore GX for the 2020 model year, offering up a new subcompact crossover to fill the niche between the subcompact Encore and compact Envision. Fast forward to the 2024 model year, and GM unveiled a mid-cycle refresh for the Encore GX that included a revised exterior design, an updated interior, the new Avenir trim level, and new tech features. Now, the 2026 Buick Encore GX is headed down the pipe, and GM Authority has learned when production will begin.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 Buick Encore GX is expected to kick off on April 1st, 2025. Dealers will be able to place orders starting February 13th, 2025. Note that these dates are tentative, and could change in the future.
Compared to the preceding 2025 model year, the 2026 Buick Encore GX introduces only minor changes. One of these is the addition of a tire inflator kit as standard, whereas previously, a tire inflator kit was offered as a standalone option.
Additionally, the 2026 Buick Encore GX introduces a revised exterior paint list, with Brilliant Red (color code GAS) replacing Cinnabar Metallic (paint code GFM). Interestingly, the Chevy Trailblazer, which rides on the same platform as the Buick Encore GX, will offer the same paint option for the 2026 model year. With regard to the 2026 Trailblazer lineup, the Chevy will offer Apex Red (paint code GAS) as a replacement for Crimson Metallic (paint code GFM). While the names of these Chevy paint options differ from those for the Buick, the paint codes are identical.
As for the mechanical bits, the engine lineup for the 2026 Buick Encore GX will be identical to that of the preceding 2025 model year, with two powerplants on offer. These include the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP engine, which is rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque and includes E85 fuel compatibility, as well as the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, which is rated at 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Under the body panels, the 2026 Encore GX rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, while vehicle production takes place at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

Why so early? Ridiculous. Trying to be just like Hyundai. Dropping the spare on a semi-luxury brand is REALLY cheap.
The inflate kits have a crappy shielf life. Generally 3 to4 years after purchase they are out, so I’d say you have a 99% chance of being stranded when you need it most. My car came with the kit, trashed it and bought a 12 volt air compressor an a tire plug kit.
I believe that these are not manufactured in the United States. If Tariffs are tagged on to the Price will anybody even buy them?
There are no tariffs associated with South Korea which is where these are built.
