Here May Be Why Your GMC Hummer EV Has A Rattling Noise Near The Brake Pedal

Some 2025 GMC Hummer EV owners may notice a rattling noise emanating from around their vehicle’s brake pedal. This rattling may be the result of excess body seam sealer that extends underneath the brake pedal housing. Luckily, fixing this issue seems like a relatively straightforward process, although it does involve removing the brake pedal assembly.

Per GM TechLink, GM technicians are advised to first verify that the brake rattling sound is present in the vehicle interior. Once the brake rattling noise has been verified, technicians will next check the brake pedal housing near the top-most bolt of the housing, also known as the sky bolt, to verify if there is excess seam sealer around this area. If excess seam sealer is discovered, the technician will need to trim the material in order to address the rattling issue.

In order to trim the excess sealer, the technician will need to first remove the brake pedal assembly, then scrape off the excess bits of sealer that come into contact with the brake pedal. Technicians will need to use “an appropriate scraping tool” to do this.

After the excess seam sealer has been removed from around the housing, the technician will need to reinstall the brake pedal assembly, as well as calibrate the Brake Pedal Position Sensor.

More information on this issue can be found in Bulletin #25-NA-003.

The GMC Hummer EV launched for the 2022 model year, with the pickup truck body style the first out the door. The Hummer EV SUV followed, launching for the 2024 model year. Both body configurations are produced at the GM Factory Zero facility in Michigan, previously known as GM Detroit-Hamtramck.

The GMC Hummer EV rides on the GM BT1 platform, with motivation sourced from GM Ultium Drive motors and a GM Ultium battery pack. Compared to the preceding 2024 model year, the latest 2025 GMC Hummer EV introduces only a few small updates and changes, such as a selection of new paint and wheel options.

  5. Anybody have a refreshed Silverado 2022.5 – 2025, noise coming from brake pedal about 2-3 minutes after driving it and shutting it off, but not leaving truck right away? It sounds like a bunch of squirrels running around under the dash.
