A month and a half after the debut of the new all-electric Wuling Sunshine EV in China, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) has just officially launched the mini-MPV in the Asian country.
General Motors’ second joint venture in China has officially launched the all-new Wuling Sunshine EV in the domestic market of that country, expanding the portfolio of new energy commercial vehicles with Wuling’s traditional red logo focused primarily on fleet customers and individual entrepreneurs. As such, the new Sunshine EV becomes the newest member of the line-up as SGMW’s smallest electric MPV.
In particular, the all-new Wuling Sunshine EV is an all-new subcompact-sized multipurpose vehicle that revitalizes the widely recognized Sunshine nameplate in China. In addition to introducing an all-electric powertrain for the first time in the family of vehicles, the new Sunshine EV stands out with its distinctive box-shaped body that maximizes interior and cargo space within reduced exterior dimensions.
Specifically, the body of the all-new Wuling Sunshine EV measures 145.1 inches long, 60.2 inches wide, and 69.5 inches tall while riding on a 102.4-inch wheelbase. SGMW claims it has optimized every nook and cranny to make the Sunshine EV highly versatile and offer a wide range of options to meet individual commercial customers’ needs for space, cargo volume, freight transportation, and travel.
The Wuling Sunshine EV launch range is made up of two variants called Standard and Comfort, which include a complete set of standard features focused on practicality, user-friendliness as well as very low maintenance costs. Both variants are equipped with a single rear electric motor producing a very modest output of 30 kW or 40 horsepower, coupled to a 17.7 kWh battery providing a driving range estimated at 201 kilometers (125 miles) on a single charge.
The all-new Wuling Sunshine EV is now available for sale at Wuling’s official dealer network in China, opening up a new segment in the small-size multipurpose EV market for fleet and consumer customers. The Sunshine EV supports DC fast charging that enables 30 to 80 percent battery charging in 35 minutes, as well as external power discharge and boosters to power low-consumption equipment.
Here is pricing for the two Wuling Sunshine EV MPV variants in China:
- 2025 Sunshine EV Standard: 47,800 yuan ($6,590 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2025 Sunshine EV Comfort: 50,800 yuan ($7,010 USD)

Wow how it would be so nice if USA had cars that start that cheap
Please keep this POS in China!
This vehicle wouldn’t work in the US. The range is anemic low and I can’t imagine the 0-60 would be safe on American highways, which means it’s relegated to the city. But if China has one thing it is dense cities, so this work for them, especially if it’s for a small business transporting goods. It’s reminiscent of the Ford Transit Connect, but that had an MSRP of $34k. This coming in at $7k is far more competitive.
