GMC Sierra EV Elevation And AT4 May Not Arrive Before 2026 Model Year

The GMC Sierra EV made its formal debut in 2022 for a 2024 model-year introduction, marking GMC’s entry into the all-electric full-size pickup truck market. The subsequent 2025 model year ushered in a series of updates, most notably with the addition of two new trim levels: the GMC Sierra EV Elevation and the GMC Sierra EV AT4. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that these two new trims may not launch before the 2026 model year.

GM Authority recently reached out to General Motors for clarification regarding the launch timeline for the Sierra EV Elevation and AT4. In response, a GMC spokesperson provided the following statement:

“Sierra EV AT4 and Elevation are coming this summer. We’ll have more details to share closer to launch.”

However, as GM Authority just exclusively reported, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2026 GMC Sierra EV is scheduled for May 19th, 2025. As such, the GMC spokesperson’s statement suggests that the Elevation and AT4 trims may in fact be delayed until the 2026 model year.

As it stands, the 2025 GMC Sierra EV lineup includes three trims: Elevation, AT4, and Denali. The Elevation trim serves as the entry-level model, and is designed as the more accessible option of the three. Exterior features include a power-operated eTrunk, the GMC MultiPro Tailgate, and the GMC MultiPro MidGate. The Sierra EV Elevation also rides on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch tires, while inside, you’ll find a 16.8-inch diagonal center touchscreen.

Meanwhile, the GMC Sierra EV AT4 is the off-road-focused variant of the lineup, and shares several features with the Elevation, such as the eTrunk and MultiPro Tailgate. However, the AT4 also adds red recovery hooks and a panoramic fixed glass roof, plus CrabWalk four-wheel steering and Terrain Mode, all while 18-inch wheels fitted with 35-inch all-terrain tires provide the grip. Also notable is an additional two inches of ground clearance compared to the Elevation trim. Inside, you’ll get the same 16.8-inch touchscreen.

Underpinning all variants of the GMC Sierra EV is the GM BT1 platform, which integrates an GM battery pack and GM drive motor technology.

  2. Yeah gm is making money on Evs. That’s why they keep pushing out timelines.

    1. Well, they might be making money on high end Denali trim, that they wouldn’t make on an Elevation EV. So this might be totally rational of them actually, whether we consumers like it or not. Personally I’m glad I didn’t wait for lower trims and I got the first edition Denali.

  4. Why do you feel the need to denigrate someone who disagrees with your choices? You don’t want to drive an EV, don’t drive one! I’m very happy with my Sierra EV, which I got in December, and with the Tesla I’ve had for 4 years and 45k miles.
100 years ago, I’m sure the same arguments were used against cars in favor of horses. Not a lot of horses used for daily transportation in the US these days.
