GM To Update BrightDrop Van Owner Manuals Over Missing Towing Information

GM has launched a Customer Satisfaction Program for multiple years of BrightDrop all-electric vans – including the 2023 BrightDrop Zevo and 2024 BrightDrop Zevo as well as the 2025 Chevy BrightDrop – that have missing towing information in the owner’s manual.

According to GM Customer Satisfaction Program number N242478720, the program is offered free of charge to BrightDrop owners through February 28th, 2027.

Affected BrightDrop vans were delivered to their owner with the owner’s manual failing to contain towing requirement information for EVs. This data is contained in a section of the manual that was not included in the initial printing for multiple model years of the vehicle.

As a remedy, GM is sending a printed insert to owners of record which can be “easily installed” in the owner’s manual, according to the customer satisfaction program. The owner can choose to install the insert pages in the owner’s manual themselves, or take the manual to their dealership and have dealer service personnel install it. Dealerships will also receive the towing information insert as a printable file.

As a reminder, The General decided to move its BrightDrop vans into the Chevy brand in late summer 2024. The Bow Tie’s vice president Scott Bell said that the change “strengthens our EV offerings and reaffirms our role as a leading commercial brand that enables businesses large and small to get work done.”

The van continues to be offered in 400 and 600 variants, with the number referring to approximate cargo volume in cubic feet. Pricing for the 2025 model year starts at $78,625 for the 400 in FWD, single-motor, 14-module battery configuration and ranges up to a starting MSRP of $90,725 for the AWD 600 dual-motor 20-module battery variant. These prices are inclusive of a $3,325 destination freight charge.

The 2025 Chevy BrightDrop 400 offers a smaller cargo volume and greater payload rating, carrying a maximum of 3,580 pounds in its 412.1 cubic-foot cargo area. For the 600 variation of the van, the cargo box holds up to 614.7 cubic feet, but is limited to a top payload of 3,180 pounds.

All versions of the EV van are powered by a combination of GM battery and GM drive motor technologies. The model is currently being used by Walmart, Hertz, FedEx, Verizon, and other commercial customers. Production takes place at the GM CAMI plant in Canada.

  1. Bright drop is in big trouble with upcoming tariffs. Expect massive losses from domestic maker’s, as Canadians won’t be buying us brands anymore. They have many choices to replace them, and domestics can expect to lose big.
