The GM Authority Take
After suffering a slight decline in December, GM Mexico sales kicked off the new calendar year with a healthy increase in January. The automaker managed to return to growth in the Latin American country thanks to a small increase in the first month of 2025, adding 266 units to its bottom line year-over-year.
As has become the norm, GM Mexico’s strong performance in January was driven by the positive performance of the best-selling Chevy Aveo. The latest-generation Aveo consolidated its leadership position for GM in the Mexican market by registering the largest increase for the manufacturer on a year-over-year basis, adding almost 550 units to its bottom line. Additionally, the Chevy Silverado registered strong double-digit growth during the month, consolidating its position as the best-selling full-size pickup in the Mexican market.
It’s worth noting that the entire lineup of GM full-size SUVs achieved substantial double- and triple-digit increases in Mexico last month. Specifically, the Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade all saw strong levels of performance in the Latin American country thanks to the arrival of the refreshed 2025 model year models. GM’s newest crossovers – just launched in Mexico – also added to the bottom line.
