Filing Indicates Cadillac Lyriq Coming To New Central American Market

A recent General Motors trademark filing for “Lyriq” in Costa Rica indicates that the automaker is planning the Cadillac Lyriq battery electric luxury crossover SUV for that market.

GM Authority has learned that GM filed to trademark “Lyriq” with the Registro Nacional de Costa Rica (RNPCR) on July 4th, 2024. The application, which is assigned serial number 2024-007055 and is filed under the Goods and Services category of “terrestrial motor vehicles, namely automobiles” (translated from Spanish). The filing was approved and the trademark was registered on October 8th, 2024, and will be valid for a decade, expiring on October 8th, 2024.

Currently, Cadillac has a quasi first-party presence in Costa Rica via Grupo Q, a dealer network that retails automobiles from the Chevrolet, Cadillac, Hyundai, and Isuzu brands. As of this writing, three Cadillac models are offered in Costa Rica – the Escalade, XT4 and XT5.

The GM Authority Take

The Lyriq will make a welcome addition to the Cadillac portfolio in the small Central American country given that the XT4 and XT5 will soon be discontinued.

Costa Rica is just one of a growing number of new international markets where the Lyriq will be offered, joining the likes of Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
