General Motors is preparing to introduce a new 2025 Chevy D-Max in Ecuador, a new variant of the successful entry-level midsize pickup that is actually the updated Chevy S10 Max.
The automaker’s Ecuadorian division has just officially revealed the first teaser images of the 2025 Chevy D-Max for the South American country, a new pickup model chosen from Chevrolet‘s international portfolio to replace the Isuzu-based D-Max manufactured locally at the GM OBB plant in Ecuador that closed in September 2024. Design details of the 2025 D-Max indicate that it is actually the updated Chevy S10 Max.
As GM Authority exclusively previewed last August, teaser images confirm that the new 2025 Chevy D-Max is an updated version of the China-made Chevy S10 Max that has been on sale in Mexico since early 2022. The product of an alliance between GM and its partner SAIC Motors, the S10 Max pickup made its global debut in the North American country in late 2021 as a rebadged Maxus T70 with the brand’s bowtie logos.
In particular, the identity of the new 2025 Chevy D-Max can be deduced from the aesthetic features of the model’s front design previewed in the teaser images which include the particular shape of the headlights, the position of the Chevrolet logo and some details of the internal structure of the grille shared with the Chevy S10 Max. Especially, the lighting signature of the 2025 D-Max’s daytime running lights is identical to that of the Maxus model, and represents a new feature for the S10 Max.
In addition to lighting, the 2025 Chevy D-Max could introduce other changes compared to the Chevy S10 Max currently sold in Mexico. GM announced that the model will have “very similar powertrains” to the outgoing D-Max with diesel engines, while the S10 Max arrives in Mexico only with gasoline engines. The refreshed Chevy S10 Max and Chevy D-Max could also adopt the front end of the more-upscale Maxus T70 Pro in order to differentiate themselves from the Maxus T60 – which has been sold for several years in Ecuador.
The new 2025 Chevy D-Max pickup truck will officially debut in the coming days in Ecuador, where GM maintains the trademark and legal rights to the highly successful D-Max nameplate. The new 2025 D-Max will seek to continue its commercial leadership as the best-selling vehicle in the Ecuadorian market with improved features and the same positioning as the outgoing model. Units of the midsize pickup truck will arrive in the country imported from China.
