The new comedy film “You’re Cordially Invited,” starring Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, debuted on Prime Video last month. It’s a zany comedy about two weddings getting booked at the same venue on the same day. GM Authority has yet to review the film, but we’ve noticed that the Chevy Suburban has a supporting role in the movie.

In a clip of a scene posted on the Chevrolet Instagram account, a disheveled Will Ferrell asks a group from the rival wedding, “You guys all drive the same white Chevy Suburban?” A few, including Reese Witherspoon’s character, answer in the affirmative. In what appears to be a moment of reconciliation between two rival factions, Will Farrell’s character enters a motorcade of no fewer than four identical Chevy Suburban SUVs finished in Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (paint code G1W) to “go get [his] daughter.”
“A family that drives the same #ChevySuburban together, stays together. Or however that saying goes,” Chevy says in the social media post. “You’re Cordially Invited is now streaming on @primevideo.”
This scene is seemingly a joke about the Chevy Suburban’s overwhelming popularity among, well, suburban families. The Suburban is so ubiquitous among the demographic the movie is lampooning that every character in that group drives the same conformist SUV, right down to the paint color. It appears that filming for this movie began in 2023, which is why the Suburban models shown in the movie are pre-facelift models from the current T1 generation, not benefiting from the full-size SUV’s 2025 mid-cycle refresh.
Of course, this is an exaggeration. The reality is that upper-middle-class suburbs have a much more varied vehicle landscape; one that includes the Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade.

This was our family. My parents and my aunt and uncle both had white Chevy Suburbans, though ours was a Z71 and theirs an LT, so slight appearance difference. My grandparents and another aunt and uncle also had a suburban as well, though not white. My aunt tried to get in ours after Christmas Eve dinner one time and started yelling at my uncle because he wouldn’t unlock it.
Loved the “we don’t all drive white suburbans, there are also Yukons, Tahoes and Escalades. Now that just funny! 😂
