General Motors has just officially announced that the Chevy Silverado 1500 picked up an award Australia as the Best Dual-Cab Ute under $150,000.
The automaker’s Australian subsidiary General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) has announced that the Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ has been named the winner of the Drive COTY Best Dual-Cab Ute Under AUD$150,000 award. In fact, the Silverado is the first truck in its class to receive this newly inaugurated accolade from Australian automotive publication Drive.
“The Chevy Silverado LTZ is truly the truck for everyone, whether you need the power and capability to cross Australia’s vast outback, or the comfort and luxury to simply conquer the school run – or a little bit of both,” said GM Australia and New Zealand Managing Director, Jess Bala. “We’re thrilled to see it recognised as the best in its field by the expert judging panel at Drive, and we know this award will mean just as much to our customers,” she added.
In particular, the Drive Car of the Year awards are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2025 as one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious automotive awards. This year, the jury is presenting the Best Dual-Cab Ute under $150,000 recognition for the first time, a new category in the country’s automotive market that includes the largest pickup trucks, with the Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ ranking ahead of all competitors to take home the award.
Specifically, the 2025 Drive Car of the Year awards jury highlighted three key aspects that made the Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ top its class. The list of accolades includes an exceptional powertrain in terms of efficiency and refinement, lower pricing than new competitors that it outperforms in terms of value for money, as well as comfort and cabin technology that became the benchmark in the segment.
“The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ set the standard for the larger pickup trucks segment,” said Drive’s panel of expert judges. “In a category that’s growing in popularity every year, the Chevy Silverado wins our inaugural award for full-size, pickup-style trucks. Silverado delivers value for money, capability, and excellent cabin practicality on its way to winning the title,” the verdict finished.

That is a beautiful truck and looks like the one I’ve been building.
It is nice, but the engine issues scare me. RECALL is likely incoming….
They should have offered a 5.3 option in Australia/NZ…that would actually be cheaper. A starting up LT trim….
