The automaker’s Brazilian subsidiary announced that it’s working on a new project focused on classic cars called Chevrolet Vintage, with which it seeks to redefine the brand’s most iconic and successful vehicles in Brazil. This new initiative, led by GM Brazil’s engineering department, will promote the restoration of locally manufactured classic Chevy cars that will have the distinction of being officially approved by the brand.

“Chevrolet Vintage will operate in two strategic niches of classic cars: restoration and restomod,” said Engineering Director at GM South America, Emerson Fischler. “While the first category aims to preserve the originality of the vehicle and its accessories as much as possible, the restomod has a different objective – that is why technological updates are added to the vintage car to make it more comfortable, safe and even reliable for everyday use,” he added.

In particular, GM Brazil’s new Chevrolet Vintage classic car project is focused on serving collectors and fans of the brand who are looking for exclusive projects to recreate nationally manufactured models that had a great impact on the Brazilian market, such as the Chevy Opala, Chevy Chevette and Chevy Monza. The entire restoration process of each vehicle in the project will be designed and certified directly by the company’s engineering department.

Currently, the Chevrolet Vintage project is preparing a series of iconic models of the brand manufactured in Brazil between the 1960s and 1990s, which were selected based on their relevance in the country’s classic car market. In addition to the classic vehicles already mentioned, the list of models includes iconic pickups such as the Chevy 3100 “Brasil”, a pioneer among utility vehicles designed for the local market.

The new Chevrolet Vintage classic car project goal is to further foster passion for the brand’s classic cars in Brazil, which have been gaining more and more fans with the arrival of a new generation of consumers appreciating neoclassics made 30 years ago. GM says that models from the 1990s such as the Chevy Kadett, Omega and S10 began to gain greater market value, driven by the celebration of the brand’s centennial.

  3. Chevrolet should be doing the same in the US. They could “remanufacture” classic Nova’s
    Malibu’s, Impala’s, Monte Carlo’s, Camaro’s and Corvettes.

  4. Really?? I would not want that pickup even parked anywhere near my house. Remanufactured Chevette or Monza with all the latest bells and whistles, not interested. Now, if your talking 57′ Belair or maybe 37′ pickup, you have my attention.
