The GM Authority Take

The slight yet healthy uptick in Chevrolet Brazil sales in January continues the brand’s strong performance in the South American country, where it has started the new calendar year in the green. The performance is in line with the overall Brazilian automotive market. Additionally, the January result represents Chevrolet’s third consecutive increase in Brazil, while bringing it within less than 1,500 units from displacing Volkswagen, which recorded 21,128 deliveries during the month, and therefore from becoming Brazil’s second best-selling model.

Once again, the gains made by Chevrolet in Brazil during January were driven by the strong performance of the Chevy Tracker, which recorded the highest gain on a unit/volume basis for the entire Chevy model portfolio during January. The subcompact crossover added more than 1,130 units year-over-year and entered 2025 as the best-selling utility vehicle in the Brazilian market. This more than offset the single-digit drop suffered by the brand’s volume leader – the  Chevy Onix – during the month.

Similarly, the Chevy S10 and Chevy Spin also achieved notable double-digit increases in January, adding considerable volume to the bottom line. The S10 midsize pickup was the brand’s second-highest performer, gaining more than 450 units year-over-year while also making up for the decrease in Chevy Silverado sales. Meanwhile, the Chevy TrailBlazer SUV remained the Bowtie brand’s fastest-growing nameplate in Brazil.
