SAIC-GM officially announced that the new 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing has just set a new track lap time record in China.
General Motors’ main joint venture in China responsible for managing all Cadillac business in the country, has announced that the new 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing set a new lap time record at the Zhejiang International Circuit, China’s most renowned track. The 2025 CT5-V Blackwing achieved an excellent result while updating its previous record on Zhejiang’s most recent “track lap time list.”
Notably, the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing recorded a lap time of 01:38.421 at the Zhejiang Circuit, representing the best time ever achieved by Cadillac’s V-Series sedan on that track and improves its record as “the fastest four-door mass-produced gasoline car” in China. This figure is an improvement over the previous record of 1:39.27 achieved by the CT5-V Blackwing in Zhejiang in mid-2022.
As one of the most challenging tracks in the country, the Zhejiang International Circuit is a 3.2-kilometer-long, 16-turn, FIA-certified Grade 2 track with a maximum gradient of 22 meters that tests the all-round performance of even the fastest vehicles. The 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing’s new record cements it as the pinnacle of the V-Series and the most track-capable sedan in Cadillac history.
Moreover, the facelifted 2025 Cadillac CT5 for the China market, incorporating some of the Blackwing’s features and manufactured at the SAIC-GM Cadillac Jinqiao plant, also set an outstanding lap time of 01:49.681 on the Zhejiang track ranking as “the fastest four-door mass-produced gasoline car under 350,000 yuan.” As such, the CT5 reaffirms its best-in-class driving performance lead, now backed by some of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing’s go-fast parts.
The 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing was officially unveiled in China earlier this year as the main marketing piece supporting the launch of the updated standard model in the Asian country. As such, the brand has no plans to market the model in the Chinese market, following the trend since the beginning of its operations in that country, where Cadillac has not manufactured or marketed any of its high-performance V-Series vehicles yet.
