A new viral video shows a Chevy Silverado MD tow truck carrying a large boat across a sandy beach in a dramatic, high-speed maneuver. Captured by an onlooker, the short clip shows beachgoers watching as the truck attempts to haul the vessel away from the shoreline before digging into the soft surface.
The video is just a few seconds long, and appears as though it was captured in Florida.
The video kicks off with the Chevy Silverado MD accelerating hard up a beach, rapidly moving away from the coastline. As a throng of beachgoers watches, the tow truck crests a small bump, causing its front wheels to momentarily lift off the ground. Meanwhile, the boat, which appears to be loosely secured, rocks back and forth as the truck continues to power through the sand.
The driver keeps their foot planted on the throttle, causing the rear tires to spin furiously and kicking up a significant amount of sand. The clip ends before we see how the attempt concludes, but based on the aggressive approach, it seems likely the heavily burdened Chevy Silverado MD got stuck in the deeper sand shortly after.
While the driving may appear reckless at first glance, a comment from someone claiming to work for the company involved provides some additional context to the clip. According to the source, the boat had drifted south of its private dock overnight, and sea towing services quoted nearly $10,000 for its removal. Local authorities, however, including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), state, and county officials, called for its immediate removal.
The operation was reportedly coordinated with law enforcement, who cleared a path for the recovery attempt. The Chevy Silverado MD, however, encountered mechanical issues, as its four-wheel drivetrain failed to engage after loading the boat. As a precaution, a second truck was stationed nearby, ready to winch out the Silverado if needed.
