Inaugurating the third generation of Big Red’s compact crossover with fresh styling, additional safety features, and more, the 2025 GMC Terrain is now available in dealerships across the United States.
Approximately 8,800 units from the 2025 GMC Terrain model year are either in transit or already on the ground at dealer lots at the time these words are written, per the inventory search tool at GMC.
All of the current 2025 GMC Terrain units in dealer inventory are from the Elevation trim, an unsurprising fact given that the rugged AT4 and luxurious Denali trims won’t launch until the 2026 model year. All of the current vehicles also have the all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration, since this was the only drivetrain produced between the start of regular production (SORP) and December 2024.
Next to come online for production will be the front-wheel drive (FWD) variant of the Terrain’s entry-level Elevation trim. The FWD 2025 GMC Terrain is currently available to order, with deliveries to begin later in the year.
Info on the GMC Terrain units reaching dealerships indicates a strong mix of the currently available exterior paint colors, including half a dozen solid colors plus optional painted roofs. About 2,400 units, or more than a quarter, are equipped with the $895 Black Edition package (RPO code WJP) that includes the following content (relevant RPO codes in parenthesis):
- 19-inch High Gloss Black aluminum wheels (PJO)
- Darkened grille
- ‘C’ shaped surrounding bezel
- Black mirror caps
- Black roof-mounted side rails (V2P)
- Black exterior accents
- Black exterior badging with Red GMC lettering
Meanwhile, about half of the 8,700 units have been optioned with the $2,700 Elevation Premium Package (RPO code GHI) that adds:
- 8-way power driver seat adjuster (A2X)
- 2-way power driver lumbar seat adjuster (AL9)
- Cabin humidity and windshield temperature sensor (ASV)
- RainSense intermittent wipers (CE1)
- Dual-zone automatic climate control (CJ2)
- Heated Wiper Park (CMO)
- Wireless charging (K4C)
- AutoSense hands-free programmable liftgate (TCP)
- Universal Home Remote (UG1)
- Roof rails (v2P)
- Overhead sunglass storage (VK8)
- After Dark CoreTec (H9F) or Gideon Gray CoreTec (HFL) seating
- 19-inch Technical Gray machined-face aluminum wheels (PJI)
GM Authority previously uncovered pricing for the 2025 Terrain, with the Elevation’s FWD configuration featuring a starting MSRP of $31,395 and $33,395 for the AWD setup. Both of these prices already include a standard $1,395 destination freight charge. The official configurator for the model is live and ready for builds and ordering.
The turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine is found under the hood, rated at 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy ratings for the vehicle have changed slightly compared to the 2024 model year.
Under the skin, the 2025 Terrain is supported by the GM D2 platform. Production is currently underway and takes place at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico.
Comments
They’ll turn off a lot of potential buyers because they’re all base trims, AWD-only, and have required premium option packages. Chevy dealers should be the beneficiaries. Dumb, dumb , gougy, arrogant, rollout.
The good news is white paint has no extra cost. I can buy an Elevation with the same options as a RS Equinox and save $995 since an RS Equinox is only available in the extra cost white.
Where’s the rebates on these overpriced vehicles?
If you think they are overpriced now, as of today, Trump is slapping a 25% tariff on these and all vehicles and parts produced in Mexico, so that $35,000 vehicle will suddenly be $43,750, I for one will not be replacing my 2021 Nox for a long time. If anyone thinks that Mexico is paying that extra $8750 you are wrong, our government slaps a tariff on the supplier once they pass over the border or dock, that is then usually passed on to the consumer. I would be surprised if GM or any company is going to absorb that 25% tariff and not pass it on to the consumer. Same goes for any vehicles and parts made in Canada. A new round of inflation is about to hit us.
overpriced and underpowered.
Better to buy now before the 25% import tax, (tariff) from Mexico kicks in.
Yeah these are great but trumps tax will ruin this opportunity for all of us.
But he bankrupts his own life why not the country.
Thanks stupid poor racist people for voting him in. You did a life fail
Build them in the USA, it’s shame that the Terrain and Equinox don’t have a factory in the USA. We import all of them from Mexico. I won’t buy one for that reason.
