When it launched for the 2023 model year, the current generation GMC Canyon AT4 was offered with two All Terrain tire options and one Mud Terrain tire option. Now, the 2025 GMC Canyon has deleted the Mud Terrain option.
Specifically, the Mud Terrain tire in question was the Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT sized 275/65/18. It was the most capable off-road tire that could be optioned on the Canyon AT4 from the factory.
This change leaves Big Red’s midsize pickup with two All Terrain tires, the Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT for the base 18-inch wheels or the Bridgestone Dueller AT for the optional 20-inch rollers.

We’re not sure why GMC has decided to remove the Mud Terrain rubber from the options list, but we can think of two possible reasons. First is that the take rate for the Mud Terrains might have been low enough to warrant their removal. Additionally, the 2025 Canyon sees the more off-road-capable AT4X trim level become an optional package on the AT4 trim and. As it stands, the AT4X pack includes a set of 33-inch Mud Terrain tires (LT285/70R17C) as standard. So it could very well be that GMC saw little demand for Mud Terrains on the regular AT4, since the AT4X already includes them in a bigger size.
We spent a good amount of time with the Canyon AT4 riding on the discontinued Goodyear Wrangler Territory Mud Terrains (equipped on the white truck pictured here), and walked away quite impressed with their on-road qualities, as the tires didn’t produce much noise or other negative NVH qualities on road. Off-road, we found the MTs quite capable, delivering solid grip, traction and feel in rough stuff.
Other changes to the 2025 GMC Canyon AT4 include the introduction of the new Nightfall Edition package, plus the addition of three new exterior colors to replace three existing ones.

Under the hood, the 2025 GMC Canyon continues to cradle the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, which provides 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The third-gen canyon rides on the updated GMT 31XX platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

If they are going to do that, they could have at least gave a better A/T choice.
That might get it below $70K
For most people their off-roading means pulling into their driveway.
I am picky about tires and have had to buy new ones and sell the factory ones before.
Small correction:
MT on these stand for “Maximum Traction”, not “Mud Terrain”.
A V8 option is needed. 4 cylinders are crap. It’s disgraceful to have a 4 cylinder in the half ton trucks also.
Haha, but a V6 is ok? You old farts just don’t get it…
I have the 24 and this thing moves. Just because its 4 Cyl doesn’t mean its sluggish. It can pull without strain as well.

I have a 2024 in the regular cab short bed and I can tell you from first hand it is extremely strong for a small engine. If you will go drive one you will not believe it is a four cylinder. Trust me.
