2025 Chevy Tahoe And Suburban: Super Cruise And LZ0 Diesel Now Available To Order

The 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban debut a mid-cycle refresh complete with several updates and enhancements, from new styling, to a new cabin, to new tech features. Among the most significant updates is the availability of the GM Super Cruise system, the automaker’s semi-autonomous driver assistance tech, which enables hands-free operation on compatible highways. Additionally, Chevrolet also offers both SUVs with the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax. Now, the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban are available to order with both of these new features.

Customers interested in Super Cruise can option the feature on multiple trims, including LT, RST, Premier, and High Country. That said, pricing and package requirements can vary depending on the trim level selected.

With regard to LT and RST trims, Super Cruise is bundled with the Advanced Technology Package (RPO code PDN), which is priced at $4,480 for LT models and $4,130 for RST models. Meanwhile, Premier and High Country trims offer Super Cruise as a standalone option (RPO code UKL) for an extra $2,855. That said, Premier and High Country trims also require additional packages before optioning in Super Cruise, including the Technology and Entertainment Package (RPO code PDG), Max Trailering Package (RPO code NHT), and Enhanced Trailer View package (RPO code ZM1). High Country trims also require four-wheel drive, the Sun and Tow Package (RPO code PCU), or the High Country Deluxe Package (RPO code PDM).

Moving on to the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax, the LZ0 arrives as a replacement for the LM2 turbodiesel offered prior to the latest mid-cycle refresh. Also known as the “baby Duramax,” the LZ0 debuts the second generation of GM’s 3.0L turbodiesel powerplant, and is rated at 305 horsepower at 3,750 rpm (a 10-percent increase over the outgoing LM2) and 495 pound-feet at 2,750 rpm (a 7.6-percent increase over the outgoing LM2). The LZ0 is available on LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country trim levels. It’s also worth noting that prior to the 2025-model-year refresh, Z71 variants were only available with gasoline-fueled engines.

The refreshed 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban.

Speaking of which, the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban continue to offer two gasoline-powered engine options – the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

As was the case prior to the 2025 model year, both SUVs are built on the GM T1 platform, with assembly taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  2. I have been waiting for this to be announced. I have been looking for a highway cruiser for my wife, my dog and I to take trips in our retirement.
The Tahoe with the diesel engine I hope is a perfect fit for that.

  3. I was so excited for this engine to come out. Then I saw them showing it off on youtube what a piece of crap 1800K oil belt, timing chains turning overhead cams that won’t last the life of the engine. The chains are in the back of the engine and the cab has to be removed to replace them. People I know who have one like the 28mpg but don’t know about the belt. Its not worth the fuel savings if you have to turn around and spend thousands of dollars on maintenance. Very bad design.

    1. it last 150k miles on the LM2 and supposed to last 200k mile on LZO, most people dont keep it till the 150k miles mark anyway

    2. Need to correct some incorrect info that you are making a mountain out of a mole hill on. First, it is a 200k belt and that is when it is dues to be inspected, not replaced unless it shows signs needing to be. Second, it isn’t an interference belt, won’t cause problems IF it fails which it has a high probability of not failing. Third, it doesn’t need a body removal to replace, just a transmission drop as it is back of the engine. Someone is seeing too many Ford horror stories here… BTW, you know how many foreign brands from Honda and Toyota need timing belts replaced as a high cost as well? If you get to 200k and need to spend a few grand to have the belt replaced, that isn’t a big deal and part of the long-term ownership of vehicles, welcome to adulthood!

      1. Common Sense,
Bravo, people have to stop believing this garbage on YouTube. If these mechanics on YouTube are so great why do they resort to making videos to make money. I would think their garage would be too busy. Maintenance is key. If people use a top quality oil and change it often, not at 10,000 to 15,000 mi. they are likely to hit that 200,000 mile mark.
There are two types of engines, and they refer to them as interference engines, and free running engines. Interference engines that lose cam timing due to a belt or chain failure will severely damage, or ruin the engine. Free running engines that lose a timing belt or chain will just coast to a stop with no engine damage except for the timing chain or belt. I didn’t think they made free running engines anymore. I can’t remember the last time they made a free running gasoline engine. I must admit I’ve never owned a diesel engine or manufactured one. This engine sounds like a good one, I hope so.

  6. Just bought a 2025 Tahoe, don’t believe the hype! Onstar and Sirius have not changed at all. You get 30 days with Onstar, then pay for subscription! Asked for my credit card# right off the bat when registering. What a waste of a big screen! I had heard comments earlier about 3 yr or 8 year use of mapping etc.

    1. What did you expect? Did you think that SIRIUS and/or Onstar were going to be free?

  7. If you go online and select the diesel option for the Tahoe and then scroll through to try and change or add components it will drop the Diesel. For example, want a second-row bench? Drop the diesel. Want cross bars? Drop the diesel. Want the sliding center console? drop the diesel. The new Ford expedition has a sliding console, and you can put the bench seat in it. Chevy and GMC are frustration with their million rules build sites.

  9. Based on this article I called one dealer today and visited another in person for a test drive as I am considering a Tahoe with Diesel with adaptive air suspension and with either tech package for Z71 and Advanced tech package for an RST with diesel. They still could not order a RST with Diesel and Supercruise nor a diesel Z71 with the technology package (camera mirror and heads up) …so not sure as to the validity of this article.

  10. GM as a whole are having major issues right now. I ordered a 2025 Escalade on December 14, 2024,,,Cadillac still as of Feb 25 hasn’t picked up the order. NO timeline for build in sight! I tried a 2025 Tahoe instead, dealer told me the same issues across all GM build,,, engines failing, supply chain issues, GM is basically in a holding pattern waiting to see if tariffs will hit them!

  11. I ordered a 2025 Premier 4×4 diesel well equipped on the afternoon of February 11th. It arrived at the dealer on March 8th. 25 days. The fastest turnround for me in all my years and many orders. I did get a 2014 Cadillac CTS V Sport in 2 weeks when a vehicle was diverted to my dealer because my order was considered sold.
