The long-anticipated Chevy Blazer EV SS is finally coming out for the 2025 model year. We originally thought its output would be 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque, but now, Chevy has revised the performance specs of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV SS for a second time to be even more powerful.
The new official output of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV SS is 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Those are the same ratings as the 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V and 2026 Cadillac Vistiq, which share the same dual-motor powertrain. The performance upgrade was announced in the video below, which shows NASCAR Chevy drivers Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain taking a Blazer EV SS for a spin at the Daytona International Speedway.
The Chevy Blazer EV SS was first unveiled way back in July of 2022. It was originally supposed to be a 2024 model with 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque. Then, last Fall, those numbers were revised to 595 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. This new update to the performance specs of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV SS is the first time it’s been bumped up to over 600 horsepower and the first time its torque rating has increased.
We assume these high power and torque ratings are only achievable in Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode. When not in WOW mode, the crossover will presumably throttle the performance a bit in the interest of efficiency and range conservation.
WOW mode serves as the sport mode of Chevy EVs. In the Chevy Silverado EV RST, WOW mode unlocks the truck’s full performance potential of 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque, giving it a 0-60 mph time as quick as 4.1 seconds.
GM’s updated estimate for the Blazer EV SS’s 0-60 mph time is a mere 3.4 seconds. When the performance electric crossover was first unveiled in 2022, GM estimated the dash to 60 mph to take under four seconds.
The configurator is live now for the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV SS, and pricing starts at $61,995. Like all Blazer EV variants, the SS model rides on the GM BEV3 platform. GM Ultium batteries provide juice to a set of GM Ultium Drive motors. Production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

Who cares? No one buys the thing. Yet even more evidence of GMs absurd EV obsession. Out of control…
It hasn’t started deliveries yet. Of course no one buys it.
Funny, mine is going into production on 2/24 but ‘no one buys the thing’. I can’t wait for it to get here but enjoy pushing the narrative.
Beachy usually speaks of things he/she knows nothing about.
Put an ICE with those same performance numbers in it and you probably won’t be able to make them fast enough!
ICE vehicles will never have instant torque.
With EVs you have all the available torque as soon as you hit the peddle, with ICE you have to get the vehicle up to a specific RPM.
You’ve never driven a supercharged vehicle, especially a supercharged V8. They’re violent.
This thing looks like it could be cool. But it’s not inventing fast or low end torque.
at 0 seconds you have 100% torque available in an EV.
I mean they’re selling hundreds of thousands of EV’s there’s obviously a market for them. I thought we should be happy about consumer choice. They aren’t for everyone, nobody is making you buy one, so why the hate for something that won’t affect you anyway?
“nobody is making you buy one”… you serious? How can you be this out of touch?
What EV do you have?
Lol this is so funny. They really think they are being forced to do something.
Everyone forced me to buy an automatic transmission. I prefer a manual transmission in my vehicles.
John,
Says the man who drives cars from the ’70s and ’80s.
No one forced me to buy one.
That was a different John. The best I can tell there are at least 3 people that post under this name, likely more.
Eventually there won’t be enough used parts for that other John to swap into his vehicles. When he does try buy a “new” 40 year old car…there won’t be any because batteries won’t last that long.
“All new cars will be electric by 2030” law sounds a little like we are being forced to buy them. Never own a new car or buy EV does technically give us a choice. Kinda like a few years ago when we weren’t forced to do other things. We just couldn’t work or buy food or travel if we didn’t, but we definitely had a choice. 😉
Government mandates for an all EV World had been S__t-Canned. Thank you Mr. President! ICE, ICE Baby!
Yeah. Thank you for slapping on a stupid tariff on imports from Mexico. Brilliant!
There was never an EV mandate and the date was 2035 for light duty vehicles not to be sold in some states. Manufacturers could meet the regulation anyway they wanted. EVs were just the logical way of doing it versus some exotic ICE or complex hybrid.
People keep assuming battery technology will not continue to get better. We’re talking about a decade from now.
Theflew
Exactly, laughable that people are worried about what’s going to happen in 10 years from now as far as automotive technology goes.
We do know one thing, with AI, technological advances will be getting faster and faster.
Nice try Diddy. We still don’t want one. Selling Cadillac Ultium junk at a discount won’t work. Where is the 7th gen Camaro?
So here’s how I see this playing out.
1. New Camaro comes out as a performance-oriented EV sitting on BEV3.
2. New Camaro maintains size but is built in, and imported from, China, alongside CT6. Because where else is gm building a RWD platform capable of holding an ICE drivetrain other than VSS-R.
3. New Camaro is an all I4T and/or hybrid BRZ-sized competitor and is placed on one of gm’s many FWD/AWD platforms likely VSS-F.
1. would obviously have its detractors, regardless of its capabilities. Just on the account of some not even wanting to give EV’s a chance. Also, some will never opt in as range issues can still weigh heavy on a purchaser’s decisions, and rightfully so.
2. would also have plenty who wouldn’t give it a chance, even if it gave them all the mechanical/performance things they want in a Camaro, just on account of nation of origin. This would also have issues in cost compared to its predecessor, which we all see how bad pricing is having an effect on Mustang.
3. would cause an entire shift in Camaro design philosophy. Thusly, it would alienate classic buyers. However, it would allow for a much lower cost of entry which could draw in a new buyer set that Camaro has never had before.
Pretty soon Chinese built cars will be tariffed out of existence in this country….
Trigger,
That would be nice. Highly unlikely.
“We’”? Mine is on order and will be here in a month or two. You don’t speak for everyone. Get your pronouns right.
Concerned with pronouns. EV lemming detected.
This is what performance sounds like?? Are you kidding me! It sounds like…………..NOTHING!
Great ad GM….Give me the new small block V8’s tomorrow along with a true SS Supercharged sports truck, suv, and new camaro. This here is propoganda!!
“This here is propaganda!” It really is. I think the USAID stuff is just barely scratching the surface. gm certainly received a lot of tax money.
John,
More of your half baked conspiracy theories?
Scratching the surface of what John, stop generalizing be specific.
Look into how many tens of billions of dollars that Musk gets from the federal government.
Trump put him in charge of wasteful government spending. Why would, or should the world’s richest man need that kind of money from the federal government. Because he can, he’s lining his pockets and pointing his finger at other government agencies, and Trump is letting him.
If you would be a little more open minded you will find what you asked for at the other great American car company, Ford.
Please don’t reply with “I am a hard core GM guy” or “Ford has too many quality issues”.
Or as per your writing, “This here is propoganda!!”
These arguments do not hold water.
I think Ford has made a lot of smart moves, but also a few not so great moves.
Also, Ford was ahead of Honda in quality last year, that’s after Honda finally made some progress. Ford certainly has some issues, but not as bad as some others.
Here’s hoping Lyriq-V gets a power bump too. It’s probably heavier and as a Cadillac it should be more powerful.
Lyriq V has 615 HP and has a 3.3 second 0-60 and was seen hitting 3.1
That’s impressive numbers. It’ll be quick and probably a blast to drive.
EV’s aren’t my thing, but they are getting a lot more appealing every new model I see. I’m too cheap to have car payments, and I’m not willing to buy a cheap used EV yet. Maybe when I can cheaply rebuild or swap a battery like I can an engine.
Batteries last much longer than gasoline engines. I know someone who drives a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid, and it still runs like new. Not even the 2010 Chevy Volt had any battery swaps yet!
That’s cute you think a 2014 or 2010 hybrid battery is considered old.
My ICE daily drivers are from the 70’s and 80’s.
Batteries most certainly do not last longer than engines. (especially when left outside in -40 winters where are frequent in northern Alberta)
Even if I needed to replace an engine, they are a few hundred dollars from a wrecking yard.
ROFL no engine is a few hundred dollars… You will be lucky to not need to replace anything. Rebuilt engines are in the thousands.
John,
You’re driving 40 and 50-year-old vehicles and keeping them running with junkyard parts ,you are contributing nothing to the automotive industry.
You live in Northern Alberta. Aprox. 90% of Canadians live within a hundred miles of the US border. Most around the big cities.
Toronto is the New York city of Canada, it is 40 MI. from the US border.
I am contributing nothing to the Auto industry, but also not fueling the relentless consumerism that drives the constant demand for new and better at the expense of debt and pollution. 😉
Note the “race track” testing ground. What’s really going on is that GM is trying to convince the NASCAR guys that the Blazer body will be just fine as a Camaro replacement. 🤣
No ICE, No Thanks! I’ll keep my V-8 Camaro, thanks. Now if you shoehorn a V-8 into this thing I’ll consider buying one. One choice is no choice.
Chevy still sells the gasoline powered Blazer.
Yea, but they don’t offer an SS version that should have the twin turbo 3.6L in it from the black wing
They announced that the 2025 ICE Blazer will be the last
Nice to see GM working to create fast vehicles with future-fuel. All those bemoaning the demise of their precious ICE’s would do well to remember the link between burning gasoline and the latest weather reports. Gripe all you want, but fossil fuels really are destroying the atmosphere and, to preserve a future for our grandkids we need to shut down oil. GM knows it. Ford knows it. Toyota knows it. Exxon won’t admit they know it. Denying it all you want doesn’t change the facts.
EV haters will always make stupid comments. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. The market will decide. I for one, own 2 ICE daily drivers, a C8 Z06 and an EV. I’m a happy camper.
Haters? Stupid comments? Do you know anything about battery production or physics?
Who asked for an EV Blazer SS? NOBODY.
Who asked Chevrolet to go all EV? NOBODY.
I will not buy an EV Camaro. I will be keeping my LT4 ICE ZL1 for a long time.
Enjoy your disposable EV virtue signal toy, I’ll keep my on the values of ZL1s, Z06s, and Blackwings.
Actually “Winter” year round?
An article about ev performance should definitely mention the range..
Lyriq V has an estimated range of 285 miles but that will go into the 300s on most drives.
I just saw on the news that Presidents Trump & Musk are stopping all manufacturing of EV vehicles. What a wonderful couple we have running our country.
Yeah right. I have been watching the news all week and have heard nothing about this. Source-
Tell my why Musk would shut down production of EVs when one of his companies literally only builds EVs…He wants to kill the tax credit so his lead gets even bigger. Never buy a Tesla.
A match made in Hell!
The Blazer is nice looking. At least in the photo, it didn’t have a gray rat fur interior.
As of right now EVS are not for everyone.
I have lived in a few different cities and never drove more than 20 miles to work one way. I usually work 6 days. I could easily make an EV work. If I was going on vacation, and planned on putting a lot of miles on, I could always rent a vehicle.
Choice is good, however, I sense that the quality control of ICE vehicles MAYBE has been neglected. I have never seen a time where major engine/transmission issues have been so rampant. I thought the roller lifter was perfected in the 80’s, layered metal bearings somehow worked for over 100 years, transmissions got better and better – yet recently, all of these stalwarts of ICE are suddenly failing with the highest frequency in decades? Something is not adding up here.
Afraid they would do this. If Cadillac is supposed to be your premier luxury brand with a side of really good performance, why would you make the power outputs the same. At least the Lyriq had a decent power output difference over the SS. Now, they’re the same car essentially, one is just nicer inside. Looks are all subjective.
It’s a beautiful vehicle and EV make a lot of sense for people that can install their own charger. I’d love to get one but I’m old, disabled, and can’t afford it. The problem with the EV Blazer is that FWIU it’s not available as a FWD and instead of worrying about HP they should have tried to give it range like the Silverado. They go over 400 miles on a charge. I’ve owned FWD, AWD, RWD, and 4X4 and FWD is best for a daily driver. They’re as good in snow as an AWD and better than a 4X4.
No thanks wouldn’t want that under my but, the battery that is. You Can’t put the fires Out plus ,look what happen to California . Rather have a jet car not so boring
I own new 2024 & 2025 Chevy 2500 pick up trucks. They are very nice and have good low end power! I also owed a 2020 chevy ev bolt for 3 years, That in my opinion was also a very nice vehicle! I now own an upgraded ev vehicle that is also very nice! I have been waiting patiently for the ev ss blazer and will probably buy it also! I am old school racer at heart, Have had just about everything that was considered fast.
