Just exclusively spotted by GM Authority, the all-new all-electric Chevy Spark EUV will join the Chevrolet brand’s lineup in Brazil.

General Motors will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its operations in Brazil this year and has planned an aggressive strategy to expand its presence in the largest country in South America, strengthening its product portfolio with updated models and launching a new focus on electrified vehicles. In fact, one of the new models that the company will introduce this year in the Brazilian market is the all-new Chevy Spark EUV.

The automaker is currently testing a fleet of pre-production units of the all-new Chevy Spark EUV wearing striking camouflage in Brazil, where the upcoming zero-emissions crossover has been captured rolling through the streets as part of a marketing campaign dubbed “Mais eletricidade pra vocĂ©” in Portuguese, which roughly translates to “More electricity for you.” Until now, it was unclear whether this fully electric crossover was part of GM Brazil’s product roadmap, but GM Authority’s discovery confirms it.

While we don’t have details on the vehicle’s marketing plan, it’s clear that the all-new Chevy Spark EUV will serve as by GM’s most affordable all-electric vehicle from Chevrolet in emerging countries around the world. As such, the Spark EUV represents the Bow Tie brand’s first low-cost BEV to be marketed in markets such as Laos and Brazil – where its commercial name has yet to be confirmed.

Baojun Yep Plus reveal

Developed by the consortium’s SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture in China, the new Chevy Spark EUV is a rebadged variant of the Baojun Yep Plus, sold outside of that country with a logo that has worldwide recognition. The Spark EUV revives the name of Chevrolet’s successful city car, discontinued in 2022 after a good track record in multiple markets around the world – with few exceptions such as Brazil.

The all-new Chevy Spark EUV is currently undergoing validation testing in Brazil, where it is set to be introduced during calendar year 2025 to expand the brand’s lineup as Chevrolet’s entry-level all-electric vehicle. The Spark EUV will follow the lead of the Baojun-developed and produced Chevy Groove and Chevy Captiva, which are sold under the Chevy brand in several developing markets. However, the Spark is the first EV under that strategy.

  1. Well I like to measure things in inches, so when I translated the Spark EUV’s stated range in km to miles, I was OK. Not overjoyed, but OK, as it’s competitive on the low end with other EV range estimates. As long as gm is not sacrificing Brazilians by selling them an unsafe vehicle (China sourced vehicles scare me with a perceived lack of crashworthiness) I think I’ll go ahead and give them permission to sell it there.

    1. GM and the rest will design vehicles to meet the crash-worthiness standards (or lack of them) in the countries for which the vehicles are destined. To add additional protection costs money. Who would do that if competitors don’t? That’s why it takes government to set such standards (and likewise for emissions). If Brazil has no standards or low standards (compared to, say, the USA), then GM will meet them regardless of where the vehicles are built.

      1. True but everyone knows, some vehicles have better crash test scores than others in whatever country they are sold. That is why crash test rankings exist.

  2. Living in Brazil and knowing the good reputation of GM ‘s cars, this and other cars meant to come here from China will succeed easily IF GM keeps good prices as BYD and GWM have charged here…and yes, cars here have to get evaluation in crash tests tests of course ….. remembering that GM ‘s celebrating 100 years in Brazil now…..
