General Motors has released a service bulletin for certain units of the 2024-2025 GMC Savana van and 2025 GMC Sierra HD pickup that were produced with power steering pumps that could fail prematurely. The bulletin expires at the end of the involved vehicle’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.
According to Service Update N242485780, some Sierra HD and Savana units are fitted with a power steering pump that may prematurely fail. It’s unclear what causes the premature failure.
A failed power steering pump would yield improper steering functionality, creating a safety hazard that could cause an accident.
A GM service department is to perform an inspection of the power steering pump on potentially affected GM Sierra HD and GMC Savana units. If a vehicle does not pass the inspection, the power steering pump must be replaced. If it does pass inspection, no further action is required.
The service update indicates that the 2024 and 2025 model years of the GMC Savana as well as the 2025 model year of the GMC Sierra HD – in both 2500 HD and 3500 HD configurations – are affected by the issue. The 2024 and 2025 Chevy Express as well as the 2025 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD also figure on the list.
As a reminder, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD is equipped with either the 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine that generates 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, or the turbocharged 6.6L V8 L5P engine that develops 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Production takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.
As for the GMC Savana, it’s equipped as standard with the 4.3L V6 LV1 engine that produces 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque, or the 6.6L V8 L8T engine with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet. Production of the Savana takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, and Savana Cutaway units are also built by Navistar at a separate facility in Ohio.

Has anyone ever heard of using quality parts and performing quality work?????
Has anyone ever heard of using quality parts and performing quality work??
But, but “…we are Professional Grade”!
GMC’s are nothing more than Chevy’s with “lock washers”.
I have a 2022 GMC Sierra, 30000 miles. My truck has been off the road for 7 months waiting for parts that they don’t have in production. As for GM having replacement parts available they do not believe in expediting. Hope you have patience.
