Some 2024 GMC Acadia Units May Require A Transmission Turbine Shaft Seal Replacement

According to a recently released Customer Satisfaction Program from General Motors, certain 2024 GMC Acadia crossovers need the transmission turbine shaft seal replaced.

As indicated by the bulletin, some GMC Acadia units may have a condition in which the transmission turbine shaft seal was misassembled.

The models that may need new transmission turbine shaft seals include the following, according to Customer Satisfaction Program number N242473580.

These vehicles are marked in the GM Global Warranty Management system, and their Investigate Vehicle History screen contains the notice “Open” to indicate that repairs are needed. The customer satisfaction program is in effect until December 31st, 2026.

This customer satisfaction program only affects the debut model year of the third-generation GMC Acadia, which was introduced for 2024. The previous-generation Acadia is unaffected because it uses a different transmission.

This service bulletin is related to a different one issued late last year for the 2024 GMC Acadia. That one called for a new torque converter, with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2817 indicating a potential problem with the transmission’s turbine shaft seal. On an unrelated note, the 2024 GMC Acadia has also suffered wireless phone charger issues, along with the GMC Canyon pickup.

As a reminder, the 2024 GMC Acadia debuts the crossover’s all-new third generation, bringing with it new styling, larger exterior dimensions, additional interior room, and new tech features, as well as the new turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine. Engine output is rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque.

The 2024 GMC Acadia rides on the GM C1 platform, while production occurs at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  1. Didn’t see anywhere in the article which transmission this is. Did the junk 8-speed strike again?

    1. Hmmm, careful Mel. I commented yesterday on the repeat issues. A fangurl got hurt because gm is the Omniperfect maker of cars and downvoted everyone.

As far as the 8-speed (admittedly I’m personally affected and biased), I cannot image gm making a worse FWD transmission than the 9-speed from the last gen and its ilk that are still being used.

  2. Same recall as the 2025 Buick Enclave. That article discloses 8-speed which is an important fact related to this recall.
