A refreshed 2025 Ram HD just debuted with updated styling and technology, along with an upgrade to its Cummins diesel engine option. The refresh keeps Ram’s heavy-duty pickup line competitive with the likes of the Chevy Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD, and Ford’s Super Duty line.
Stylistically, the refreshed 2025 Ram HD is not a radical departure from its predecessor. However, its most important option gets a big improvement. The Cummins B Series 6.7-liter I6 turbo-diesel available under the hood is upgraded to produce 430 horsepower and a whopping 1,075 pound-feet of torque, which takes the important title of best-in-class torque. The base engine remains a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 rated at 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. A new TorqueFlite HD eight-speed transmission routes power to the wheels.
The new Cummins mill’s four-digit torque rating translates to max tow ratings of up to 36,610 pounds with a gooseneck hitch and 23,000 pounds with a conventional hitch. The HEMI V8 gives it its max payload rating, which is 7,590 pounds.
“More than 70% of Ram heavy-duty customers opt for the diesel, and for 2025, we built on that demand and long-lasting durability with an improved Cummins engine coupled with a new eight-speed transmission,” said Ram brand CEO Tim Kuniskis. “This is a very specific pickup segment that requires a powerful tool – every 2025 Ram 2500 we sell allows the potential of 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque in every gear, for a 70% increase in torque delivery from the previous generation 2500.”
For those keeping score between Ram and GM, the HD variants of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra offer a gas 6.6L V8 L8T with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque and a Duramax 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel producing 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. Max towing with a gooseneck hitch is 36,000 pounds, and the max payload is 7,237 pounds. Those are impressive by any standard but bested by the Ram.
The refreshed interior improves the refinement and adds some new tech features to this workhorse. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system has a 14.5-inch central screen and a new 10.25-inch passenger screen available. Newly standard safety tech includes adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors on the Big Horn trim and up, drowsy driver detection, traffic sign recognition, and active lane management.
Other new features include an onboard power inverter with two 110-volt outlets in the bed, a new LED light signature, extra cameras for towing, and trailer reverse guidance that shows the driver both sides of a trailer.
The Mexico-built 2025 Ram HD will be available in the first quarter of 2025, priced from $47,560 for the 2500 and $48,565 for the 3500.

I have no need for an HD truck but when it comes time to trade my truck in I will be getting a RAM! I’ve had enough of GM’s BS these past few years.
Be careful…RAMS have their own issues….
You can downvote all you want, but with any truck YOU CAN GET A LEMON..
GM should be worried.
Possibly, because of the new transmission that will not grenade at all…
there will be no getting used to the grill/front end styling. The black black one is embarrassingly ugly.
Which grill design should we use? I know! All of them!
LED’s are standard on the base trim, GM at this point just needs to follow suit. A, it helps the safety score as headlights are counted in that. B, it would simplify the build process. C, most importantly it would keep idiots from throwing a set of LED’s in their reflector housings and blinding everyone. They are illegal, no amount of adjusting and aiming stops the spread as the light source, projection and the actual wave lengths aren’t at all designed for it. That is the worst, all those people need to meet a pole at 20mph (enough to damage their vehicle and not get hurt), it is dangerous for everyone else on the road.
“1,075 pound-feet of torque, which takes the important title of best-in-class torque.”
No mention of the Ford HO 6.7 at 1200+/- lb ft. Are we splitting hairs on the 2500/3500 – 250/350 platforms as different classes?
I am surprised at the claim all 1075 lb-ft are available in every gear, presumably that torque is at a fairly low RPM, lower than most programmed shift points. How will I achieve that torque number in 8th gear with out the engine downshifting? The only time it would be achievable is in first gear, albeit this is the situation you would need the torque in the first place and where it was previously limited.
To this day the front end STILL looks like %$#@
Does this truck come with a dipstick so that you are able to check the oil level in your $80,000 truck yourself?
Was told that the local Dodge Jeep dealership will not work on any of their line of vehicles that are over X number of years old nowadays.
Never seen a franchise dealership turn away customer pay repair orders. Guess that is why the local owned repair shops have so much more business nowadays.
Still an ugly truck with a company that’s in bankruptcy almost among other issues. I will hard pass.
They are in a better position than Nissan…to Stellantis’s credit…
Do these still have the old cab that is smaller than the 1500 Ram’s cab?
