Poll: Which GMC Sierra AT4 Wheel Do You Prefer?

To complement its off-road capabilities, the GMC Sierra AT4 pickup features a range of distinct exterior styling elements, including some unique wheel designs. Over the years, GMC has updated the Sierra AT4 wheel options list, most recently with the debut of the 2024 and 2025 model years, in turn providing Sierra AT4 buyers with new choices to better suit their individual style. The question is – which GMC Sierra AT4 wheel do you prefer?

A set of 18-in wheels on a GMC Sierra AT4.

18-Inch Machined Aluminum with Dark Gray Accents (RT5)

Let’s begin by comparing some of the GMC Sierra’s key wheel designs, starting with the 18-Inch Machined Aluminum with Dark Gray Accents (RPO code RT5). Equipped as standard for Sierra AT4 models between the 2019 and 2023 model years, this wheel features an intricate spoke pattern that pairs well with the Sierra AT4’s bold exterior, making them a standout feature for the off-roader during the given time period.

18-Inch Machined Aluminum with Dark Painted Pockets (57N)

Later, GMC launched the 18-Inch Machined Aluminum with Dark Painted Pockets (RPO code 57N) for the 2024 model year, showing off an updated design and taking over as the default option. The 57N wheels maintain the machined aluminum finish, but replace the broad spoke design with a more aggressive and modernized look.

20-Inch Machined Aluminum with Carbon Gray Metallic Accents (NZH)

Then we have the 20-Inch Machined Aluminum with Carbon Gray Metallic Accents (RPO code NZH). Offered as optional between 2019 and 2024, the NZH wheels offer a larger and more commanding presence thanks to their 20-inch diameter. These wheels combine a machined aluminum finish with large spokes, adding a luxurious touch while still keeping the AT4’s rugged DNA intact.

Notably, the NZH wheels are equipped as standard for the 2025 model year, making the 18-inch 57N wheels optional. Although larger rollers lend the Sierra AT4 a more premium feel, they may be at odds for those buyers that prefer a slimmer diameter for their off-roader.

Nevertheless, we have to ask – which of these wheel designs do you prefer? Cast your vote in the poll below and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

As a reminder, the GMC Sierra AT4 is available with either the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, or the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax. All fourth-gen Sierra 1500 variants ride on the GM T1 platform, while vehicle production takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

  1. I love the 20″ wheel. I know there are many that don’t want 20″ wheels, especially for an off-roader, but I love the looks of this wheel. So much so that I found a set of 20″ takeoffs (only 10 miles on them at the time) and put them on my 2016 Silverado back in 2020. Last year, when I traded in the Silverado for my current Sierra SLT, I had the dealer swap the 20’s onto my current truck.

They are aggressive looking, but not gaudy. They’re also relatively easy to clean.

    1. 20’s shouldn’t even be an option on any off road package, that completely defeats the purpose. They don’t make the truck look aggressive, it looks more city slicker… Basically it just announces to everyone, I bought the off road because I think it makes me look tough and won’t ever use it.

      1. Nobody is taking their AT4 through hard off-road trails… lol. That’s what the AT4x/ZR2 is for, which to your point, has 18″ wheels.

These trucks are used as daily drivers and offer a little more ruggedness than your average truck.

        1. TMI – you really need to consider the intended use cases for these vehicles.

First, and I know this will be a tough one to wrap your head around, but looks sell… specially when it comes to today’s modern trucks. So yes, of course it’s made to look tough and rugged.

And no, the AT4 is not a “serious” off-road truck, but it’s more capable than most other vehicles out there. The AT4 is – first and foremost – a truck. It’s a truck that has some off-road capability.

Within that off-road capability, GMC gives customers a choice of two wheel sizes. If you’re not all that serious about off-roading and want better on-road performance and looks, go for the 20s. This is more than enough for the occasional off-roader. Those who want more off-road performance can go for the 18s. These folks likely spend more time off-road than those who got the 20s.

The end result is that GMC gets to attact two different (yet similar) customers, and satisfies them both. And those who are even more serious about off-road can get the Sierra AT4X. That truck is only available with 18s.

It’s all about the power of choice to win the sale.

    2. I am with you of loving the look of the 20″ but I wish that style was in the 18″. I have an AT4 & I got the 20’s but I immediately changed the tires to bfg t/a ko2’s, I did not like the stock Bridgestone’s. I bought the truck during covid, so the selections weren’t great. I don’t participate in hard core off-roading or rock crawling so the 20’s are ok for me. The 22’s & now talking of 24’s do not belong on a truck. Let’s be realistic they look stupid & with no sidewall rubber, I fail to see the usefulness. My truck is used for hauling firewood, wood pellets, quads & anything else I would need traveling back & forth to camp in ADK’s.This is strictly opinion.

  3. As an owner of both the original 18″ design and now the 20″ design, I really don’t like any of them. The 20″ is nice when the truck is stationary, but due to it’s flat design, when in motion, it looks too flat. I wish GM would make a 20″ option for the AT4 that offers some dish/concave so that it had more depth. I also wish GMC would bring back the Grey 20″ option that was available on the 2020-2022.5 Sierra AT4 Carbon Pro. That was my favourite wheel.

    1. “what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”
