For off-roading fans, the GMC Sierra AT4 delivers thanks to enhanced, trail-ready capability and a rugged, aggressive design. Highlights of the factory setup include a two-inch lift, all-terrain tires (with optional mud-terrain rubber), and monochromatic exterior accents that blend both black and body-colored elements. However, the look may not be totally satisfactory for those owners looking for fully blacked-out badges. As such, we’re highlighting one little-known GMC accessory that completes the blacked-out badge look.
The accessory in question is called simply “Sierra AT4 Emblems in Black,” and is tagged with part number 86532078. Priced at $250, this accessory kit replaces the standard chrome nameplate badge and trim badges with black versions. Specifically, the accessory kit includes:
- Black tailgate nameplate badge
- Black trim badges for the tailgate and both front doors
- Black grille trim badge
What’s more, the kit adds in a set of front fender inserts, which replace the engine-specific badging with new “AT4” badging.
Interestingly, this kit is not available as a factory-installed option, but rather must be purchased as an accessory, making it something of a niche offering for Sierra AT4 owners. Nevertheless, the kit transforms the truck’s appearance with a cohesive and aggressive all-black look.
That all said, some owners may want to take the black-out look even further by swapping out the chrome GMC emblems and chrome exhaust tip. With regard to the blacked-out GMC emblems, Big Red also offers the “GMC Emblems in Black” kit, tagged with part number 86539816 for models equipped with the MultiPro tailgate, and part number 86539814 for models without the MultiPro tailgate.
Unfortunately, GMC does not currently offer a factory solution for the chrome exhaust, but we’ll cover this in a later post.
As a reminder, the light-duty GMC Sierra AT4 offers two powertrain options, namely the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax. The GM T1 platform provides the underpinnings, while vehicle production takes place at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and GM Silao plant in Mexico.

I am SO sick of the “chrome delete” trend. Now that the manufacturers offer it, it’s officially not cool anymore, right? Right?
I have an 2024 AT4, It’s not a All Terrain 4X4. I wouldn’t trust it to far from civilization. No 12 volt power to run a CB, spot light, GPS and any thing that requires 12 volts, a space saver tire for a spare., poor interior lighting. If you need to put tire chains on the front you cant because the distance between the tire and the upper A control are are to close. What gets me the most is if your engine won’t start you’ll never get into neutral because the engine is required to get it out of park. Whats worse part I had an engine lock up on me at 5K miles pulling a camping trailer. What I paid for this truck and what I got are not equal. An over priced 4X4 ! I won’t even go into OnStar !
I purchased a Sierra 1500 AT4 with the Duramax 3.0. It has exceeded all expectations so far. The small Duramax diesel engine has plenty of power, is whisper quiet and will get you 26 to 27 mpg at a reasonable speed. The comfort level of the interior is a 10 out of 10.
If there is anything I don’t thoroughly enjoy about this AT4, it would be the dark interior and some very small font on a few of the information displays.
I have a 24 AT4 3500 Duramax My only issiue is if you can embroider the head rest then why on my center console is there a cheep $2 plastic AT4 emblem? This should be embroidered in also
