Cars, trucks, and SUVs are built to tackle all kinds of terrain and tasks, but they occasionally find themselves in spots far removed from their intended use. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to this Chevy Suburban, as captured in a viral video showing the full-size SUV submerged in a river. And, as one might expect, the process of extracting this waterlogged utility vehicle is not exactly easy.
The video is only a few seconds long, and was published to social media by a Brazilian Instagram feed. However, the incident likely occurred in the U.S., as the Chevy Suburban isn’t available in the Brazilian market.
In the video, a black Chevy Suburban is seen almost completely underwater, with only the nose of the vehicle poking above the surface. A group of individuals are seen standing around the submerged SUV, seemingly trying to devise a plan to pull it out from the murky depths. The overlay text humorously remarks in Portuguese, “Let’s go out on a good note today, without causing any problems.”
The crew begins by securing a strap to the Suburban’s front suspension in the initial attempt to pull it out. At first, the effort seems to work as the vehicle begins to rise from the water. However, their plans quickly falter as the SUV sinks back down, the cabin once again filling with water.
Undeterred, the crew brings in a tow truck, eventually hauling the Suburban onto the riverbank – but not without a twist. The SUV emerges upside down, pointing a clean undercarriage straight towards the sky.
As if retrieving a submerged Suburban weren’t difficult enough, the video reveals yet another obstacle: the riverbank is lined with a guardrail. The crew now faces the challenge of figuring out how to lift the hefty vehicle over the barrier. No matter the vehicle, it’s a tricky operation, but dealing with the size and heft of the full-size Chevy Suburban likely makes this rescue even more difficult.
Though the video lacks details about how the Suburban ended up in the water, it’s safe to say that pulling the SUV from the river proved to be an adventure of its own. And while the Suburban’s durability and capability are legendary, its swimming capabilities still leave something to be desired.

Think I heard a chuckle from the folks who deal with semis in similar situations…
What type of driver drove theirs in…I wonder….
This reminds of a case where a 20 something year old lady crashed her Escalade and got arrested for DUI…
Point is, SHE SHOULD NOT have been driving such a car in the first place…
Something against women driving such cars down there in Qatar?
Nothing really.
Females usually drive Japanese and European Vehicles.
Some like to drive Tahoes , Suburbans and Yukons as well. I have seen a few.
Even F 150s and Tundras- but mostly locals.
If it was a lemon like my 2022 ltz Silverado, maybe it was drove in there on purpose.
