Here’s When 2026 Chevy Traverse Production Is Scheduled To Start

GM unveiled the third-generation Chevy Traverse for the 2024 model year, with the subsequent 2025 model year introducing several important updates. By contrast, the upcoming 2026 Chevy Traverse is expected to debut only a few small changes compared to the preceding 2025 Chevy Traverse. Now, GM Authority has learned when 2026 Chevy Traverse production is set to start.

Production of the 2026 Chevy Traverse will begin in July.

According to sources familiar with the matter, production of the 2026 Chevy Traverse is set to begin on July 14th, 2025, and will again take place at the Lansing Delta Township Assembly Plant in Michigan, as was the case previously. Dealers will be able to submit orders for the 2026 Chevy Traverse starting June 12th, 2025. To note, both of these dates are tentative, and may very well change some time in the future.

Official pricing details for the 2026 model have yet to be revealed, but are likely to remain close to pricing details for the 2025 Chevy Traverse. For reference, the 2025 Traverse starts at $41,995 for the LT FWD trim, with pricing increasing to $43,995 for the AWD LT configuration. The off-road-oriented Z71 trim begins at $46,995, while the luxurious High Country starts at $54,995 for FWD and $56,995 for AWD. Meanwhile, the sporty RS trim begins at $55,295 for FWD and $57,295 for AWD. Notably, GM eliminated the entry-level LS and fleet-focused 1FL trims from the 2025 Traverse lineup, which aligns with GM’s broader strategy to streamline its various offerings.

Notably, the 2025 Traverse High Country lacks several styling features typically associated with Chevy’s High Country trim levels. These include missing High Country logos on the front quarter panels and headrests, as well as body-color wheel arch moldings.

As for the greasy bits, the 2026 Chevy Traverse will carry over the same 2.5L I4 LK0 turbocharged engine as the preceding model years, delivering an estimated 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the 2026 Chevy Traverse will once again ride on the GM C1 platform.

  1. Put the V6 in the new Traverse, it needs it, and do it right (350hp/350Torque)

    1. Get rid of the C-pillar “sail” as well.

Hopefully we won’t have to wait for a 2028-2030 refresh for either of these.

    2. You’ll need a bigger 6 for that. You’ll need the 4.3 with a hot cam grind and steel exhaust manifold.

    3. what V6 engine does GM make with those spec’s? lol. Even if they did the fuel economy, extra weight and the room under the hood would make it a foolish endeavour. Welcome to the 21st century John.

      1. The 2.7T is a whopping 350lb engine. That’s what you get for a DOHC turbo 4 with balance shafts. For reference a DOHC “high feature” V6 is 370, while a 5.3 LS is also 370, the 5.3LT is 395 lbs empty. 4 cylinder engines are justing long and tall.

There is only 2 things keeping GM from dropping a 5.3 V8 into the traverse.
        1, CAFE
        2, competition with the suburban.
Space wise, it’s easy. They dropped the 5.3 into the impala SS which is a much smaller car, less wide and shorter engine bay. There’s a chance the 5.3 would rip the guts out of the tranny as well, but they can upgrade the tranny like they did with the 4 speeds decades ago (shot peened shafts and additional clutch disks.)

    4. My 2020 Enclave does very good with the 310HP 3.6 V6!…
I get up to 28mpg …. would not buy a vehicle of this size with a Vega 4cyl engine that gets the snot beat out of it and will be lucky to last 100K!!

  2. Was’nt to long ago that we had the opportunity to vote in a survey it the Traverse should have a V6 option. As I recall the response was a hge 80 something persent yes. The 2026 model would have been a great place to offer it.

    1. Why Dennis? They should create an all new V6 engine just for the Traverse? Do you have any idea what that costs? The cost vs benefit ratio is just not there! The list goes on and on.

  3. Worthless article with no real information regarding the 2026 Traverse.

  4. $55,000 for RS FWD is insane. I paid $45,300 for my 2021 RS FWD and will keep it since Chevy has decided to overprice there Family Transporter.

    1. If I recall, MSRP on the base Traverse was $29,900.00 when it was first introduced.

      1. The current LT is very comparable in price and better equipped than the 2021 Traverse RS.

    2. Go drive one. The two aren’t even close to being a fair comparison. The only factory option for it in 2025 is the sunroof. Everything is standard. Your 2021 lacks some major features that are standard now that weren’t even available regardless of what you spend. Also keep in mind the massive inflation in the auto industry since 2021 and the economy in general. That is like saying I refuse to spend over $2 for a dozen eggs! LOL they are $5.61 now. How much has the egg changed since 2021? Next?

  5. Bring back the LS and FL trims as well as add an L trim. Cars are too expensive!

    1. Those would just sit on the lot waiting on the tight ass that wants a base unit. Typically those customers step down to something more in their price range that is better equipped. The trims above that sell as fast as they show up, often we sell them while in transit or not even built yet.

      1. Exactly, Looking for a RS or High Country. Every dealer has a plethora of LS and LT models they’d love to move. Mostly RS and HC are in transit and most have already sold.
