Here’s When 2026 Cadillac CT4 Production Is Scheduled To Start

General Motors is whittling down its ICE-powered sedan lineup in the U.S., recently discontinuing the ninth-generation Chevy Malibu with the conclusion of the 2025 model year. Nevertheless, there are still two ICE-powered four-door models left standing, including the Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5, both of which will continue on into the 2026 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned when 2026 Cadillac CT4 production is scheduled to start.

The 2026 Cadillac CT4 will be more or less identical to the preceding 2025 model year.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the start of regular production for the 2026 Cadillac CT4 is scheduled to kick off on June 2nd, 2025. Dealers will begin processing new orders on May 1st, 2025.

To note, these dates are for the “regular” CT4 model variants, and do not necessarily apply to the CT4 V-Series models. What’s more, these dates are tentative and could change.

The Cadillac CT4 has faced a somewhat uncertain future as of late, with ICE-powered models like the Chevy Malibu and Chevy Camaro both hitting the skids recently. What’s more, the CT4’s larger stablemate, the Cadillac CT5, was refreshed for the 2025 model year, leading to questions over whether Cadillac’s entry-level sedan would make it to 2026.

However, as GM Authority confirmed back in December, the CT4 will live on into 2026, albeit with few, if any, updates. Potential changes may include new paint options, wheel designs, or a special edition similar to the 2025 CT4-V Blackwing Petit Pataud. Fundamentally, though, the 2026 Cadillac CT4 will likely march forward with the same design and features as were presented with its 2020-model-year debut.

The CT4’s roots trace back to the Cadillac ATS, with both models riding on GM’s Alpha platform, and both produced at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. However, the Cadillac CT4’s sales figures paint a somewhat challenging picture. As of the third quarter of 2024, the CT4 remains the brand’s worst-selling model in the U.S., with just 4,900 units sold – less than half the CT5’s 10,991 units. Meanwhile, Cadillac’s SUVs and electric models, such as the Escalade and Lyriq, continue to dominate with sales of more than 20,000 units.

Nevertheless, while the CT4’s long-term future may remain uncertain, its continuation provides a welcome choice for buyers that enjoy an ICE powertrain paired with four-door luxury. As a reminder, non-V-variants of the Cadillac CT4 are available with two engine options, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine.

  1. I do not see the obsession with CUVs. I have no desire to drive around someone else’s children. Two seats is enough for me.

  2. GM should give the car at least a grille and tail light change, keep it fresh and updated. Years ago cars would always get a refresh each model year, gave us something to look forward to every November to see what next years cars look like. The big three would even change majority of the panels each year. Now, just a paint change, maybe, i mean maybe a badge change every ten years, how exciting , wow , new colors every five years, Detroit is getting so boring.

    1. daryl: As a kid, I loved to watch for those “new” changes every year or two. Now, it’s super difficult to tell a 2020 from a 2025. Not only that, but they keep moving the “new model year” up. Before my time in auto sales, it used to be that the new models were shipped in covered trucks and often in the dark of night. They would be sent to the dealerships and hidden under lock and key. On the day of the new model reveals, the showroom windows would be papered over and the cars snuck into the showrooms. I’ve spoken with older sales people and seen pics of this with customers lined up in front of the showroom doors waiting for them to unlock the doors in order to see the new models. Now anymore today, you have 2026’s being introduced in June of 2025 and it seems like it’s getting earlier and earlier each year. And to add insult to injury, nearly everything today is some ugly box SUV with about as much excitement as a colonoscapy.

  3. I’m glad they are still making it, but it desperately needs a refresh, especially the dash and infotainment system. Spy shots showed it was already engineered, so please do it already! It is hurting sales. It’s embarrassing that an $80k CT4-V Blackwing has an 8″ screen dating back to 2012, while the cheapest $21k Chevy Trax has a much larger screen at 1/4 the price. Updating the front and especially the rear styling wouldn’t hurt, either. BMW, MB, Audi, and to a lesser extent the Lexus are all consistently being updated; so should Cadillac!

  5. It appears the current refresh of the 2025 CT5 was “probably” the last investment Cadillac was going to apply to ICE based sedans so it’s not surprising the slow selling CT4 is not getting even a refresh. Per updates with GM brass this week, GM will not be designing and producing ANY new ICE based (or Hybrid) vehicles after the current models wrap up. So while Mary Barra indicated (a few months back) that they would adjust vehicle offerings based on market demand, apparently extending production of older models (with minimal updates) is what she meant.

  6. Embarrassing that the styling “ID” of Caddy’s is the sophomoric vertical marker lights akin to a delivery truck. And they are not unique having been loosely copied by economy brands KIA and Hyundai . This is ALL they have left for the “Caddy Look”. Sad.
Keep up the good work, Mary .

  7. If they think the ct4 has low sales volume just wait when all the models are Evs. Cadillac dealers will only be a repair shop. Way to go Mary and company, this $hit doesn’t make any sense. Evs will never be a cool vehicle, people better keep what you have. The classics are going/gone.

  8. At least give the updated information screen for CT4. They are deliberately neglecting. CT4BW can easily compete with BMW M2 if they show some love.
