If you’re wondering how much our affordable 2025 Chevy Trax compact crossover can tow, there’s a simple answer to that question provided by General Motors itself: zero pounds.
The relevant information in the 2025 Chevy Trax owner’s manual states the following about the model’s towing capacity: “Never tow a trailer with your vehicle. It was not designed or intended to tow a trailer.”
If we want a crossover from the Chevy brand that is capable of towing a trailer, we will need to look elsewhere than the Trax. Fortunately, there are several models on offer that can likely provide the capability we’re looking for. One of the most compact is the 2025 Chevy Trailblazer, which is able to tow 1,000 pounds (454 kilograms) regardless of powertrain.
Another option is the 2025 Chevy Equinox, which launches the nameplate’s new generation. Equinox towing capacity is 800 pounds or 363 kilograms when configured with front-wheel drive (FWD) and increases to 1,500 pounds or 680 kilos with all-wheel drive (AWD). For even higher towing potential, the 2025 Chevy Blazer can haul a trailer weighing 1,500, 3,250 or 4,500 pounds (680, 1,474 or 2,041 kilograms) depending on its drivetrain, engine, and presence of the Trailering Equipment Package (RPO code V92).
Despite its lack of towing power, the 2025 Chevy Trax remains a popular and thrifty choice for North American buyers in need of affordable transportation. The vehicle’s exterior paint colors include eight different options, with Marina Blue Metallic and Cypress Gray as two new colors for the model year.
The Bow Tie crossover rides on six different wheel styles, including 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch options. Inside the cockpit, seven different interior colorways are offered across the five trim levels – including the LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and Activ – of the Trax.
Chevy will soon add two more “upscale” convenience features to the 2RS trim level by including the eight-way power driver seat adjuster (RPO code A2X) and two-way power lumbar support (RPO code AL9) on 2RS vehicles as well as the Activ trim, starting in February.
Soon to be the third-most affordable new vehicle in the U.S., the 2025 Chevy Trax also features a new E85-compatible engine able to run on the high-ethanol E85 fuel. This is the new turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP gasoline engine developing 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, the same output as the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine it replaces.
Pricing ranges from a starting MSRP of $21,495 for the LS trim to $25,395 for the top-level Activ trim. The vehicle rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set, with production taking place at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.
