The GM Authority Take

GMC Savana sales fell at a slower pace than all other rivals, except for its corporate sibling, the Chevy Express, which was the only one in the green. Better yet, combining sales of the Savana and Express placed GM second overall among crosstown rivals – edging out Ram but still behind Ford.

As GM Authority has noted in the past, the Express/Savana is an old vehicle that dates back to the 1990s. The duo remains the oldest models in their segment by a wide margin and are even the oldest GM vehicles currently in production. Meanwhile, competitors field substantially more modern and attractive products. Even so, GM has sold more than three million Chevy Express and GMC Savana units to date.

GM previously considered to redesign the Chevy Express for the 2027 model year, keeping the ICE powertrain. However, the automaker seems to have canceled any next-generation vans, instead moving the all-electric BrightDrop vans under the Chevy brand while planning to continue offering the Express in its current form.

About GMC Savana

The 2025 GMC Savana drops the audio system upgrade – the AM/FM stereo with MP3 player and USB port – along with several other features and options. In practical terms, this means that the 2025 Savana will no longer have a CD player or USB port, while Bluetooth connectivity is available through a dealer-installed kit. It also offers a new rearview camera mirror.

Production of the 2025 GMC Savana kicked off in October.

  3. Don’t understand why GM competes with themselves with two hubcap versions of the Express.

I’ll grudgingly give GM a pass with platform-engineered GMC pickups and CUVs. But when the vans are dead… freaking… identical?? Doubt the Savana sales are enough to make a difference with any dealer’s bottom line.

  4. The best and highest quality van out there. The GMC version. I, however, do NOT think Ford or Ram Pro makes a more attractive version. You gotta be outta your mind.

I see a little more of these spanking brand new vans on the road. Trickling down…..
