General Motors continues its celebration activities for its 100th anniversary of operations in Brazil and has just announced that it will launch three Chevrolet special-edition models in that country over the course of the year.
The automaker’s Brazilian subsidiary announced that it is preparing to launch a special series commemorating its centenary for three of the most influential Chevrolet models in the local market, which will receive unique design finishes and configurations in memory of the historic milestone achieved by the brand. The models that will receive a 100th anniversary edition variant are the Chevy Onix, Chevy Tracker and Chevy S10 manufactured in Brazil.
“The choice was motivated by a number of reasons. Starting with the relevance that each of them represents for the national market, as a symbol of innovation and pioneering in their respective segments,” said Product Marketing Director of GM South America, Paula Saiani. “Furthermore, each of them is manufactured in one of the industrial complexes that GM has in Brazil – the Onix in GravataÃ, the Tracker in São Caetano do Sul and the S10 in São José dos Campos,” she added.
In particular, the Chevy Onix, Tracker and S10 are the three best-selling Chevrolet vehicles in Brazil, covering the most in-demand segments of the Brazilian automotive market. For this reason, the 100th anniversary edition variants of these nameplates will play a key role in the brand’s commercial strategy for this celebratory year and will strengthen its competitiveness in the local market.
GM Brazil indicated that the three Chevrolet 100th anniversary edition models will be launched at different times throughout the year, all with unique colors related to Brazilian culture and other exclusive trim or dynamic elements. The special-edition models will be produced in limited quantities and details about these products, as well as the other five launches already announced for this year, will be shared later.
The first variant from Chevrolet to be launched is the Chevy S10 100th anniversary edition, an off-road adventure-inspired variant of the midsize pickup with a unique front-end design that gives it a more aggressive appearance, as well as a paint treatment and other specific accessories. Although details have not yet been revealed, the variant will be based on the Z71 trim level Z71 and boast mountain design graphics on the front.
