This can’t be true. Everyone here says GM is a shell of its former self and that nobody wants any of the cars they make. All thanks to poor leadership from Mary Barra of course.

Not just a shell. A hollow shell.
I love the General but facts are facts.
Newsflash. The Japanese also lost market share when the Koreans entered the global market. The more players that enter the pie, the less pie there is to go around. So what exactly is your point?
Here is one point.
GM market cap in 2010 $55 billion.
Toyota market cap in 2010 123 billion
GM market cap in 2024 58 billion
Toyota market cap in 2024 318 billion.
I have never owned a Japanese car.
Never even considered one.
Look up also who is the most indebted car company of them all. You’ll be enlightened to see who takes the top spot. I’ll give you a clue. Its name is similar to Yodas.
Actually, GM is at $58 million but of the Japanese Toyota is the only one higher than them. At 6th place they are surpassed only by Tesla, Toyota Xiaomi (which includes their large electronics sector), BYD, and Ferrari. But Honda, Nissan, Subaru, and Hyundai are lower on that list. I’d share the link but the comment wouldn’t go through.
No Brand TODAY has more than 25 % of market share around the world, unless in Japan probably, where there ain’t competition ( because government NEVER would accept Foreign brands there )…. here in Brazil VW had more than 50 % of market share in the 60’s and 70’s , TODAY +- 16%. It’s impossible in countries with REAL competition to have more than 25 %
Not only that, but EV sales jumped 50% and are a big driver of this increase. Must be fake news! 😉
All the grumbling from enthusiasts about the rise and dominance of SUV’s and CUV’s is hard to accept as GM sales increase on the raised chassis of Traxs, Envistas, Equinoxs, Traverses, the Cadillac XT’s and the truck-based SUV’s. Yes, I wish there was a Camaro or affordable sports sedan, but the small numbers associated with the CT4 and CT5 suggest that they’re not GM’s forte.
You are close but not quite. My CT5-V Blackwing is hailed as the best sport sedan on the market and that sentiment is correct. It’s not that sport sedans aren’t GM’s forte in the slightest. GM knows performance. The sedan market just doesn’t exist like it used to. GM is in a healthy position in markets that do have the most interest currently.
GM’s advertising budget for sedans in very, very small, the Malibu still sold well despite little or no advertising, CT4 and CT5 sales would increase if GM increased their advertising budget on them.
Camaro was dragged down by ‘business suit’ sport sedans.
Business suits are for chodes, and they kept those!
GM trounces Toyota once again, & with GM’s lineup of new vehicles, sales will continue to skyrocket.
Total sales of the ugly $340,000+ Cadillac Hearse Mobile: zero.
I don’t think they’ll ever report sales of the Celestiq, even when deliveries get underway…
Why do GMC and Chevrolet need to be separated. The F-150 is only the top selling USA vehicle because Sierra and Silverado are listed as two different brands when in fact they are the same vehicle.
Four cylinder turbos are not selling. Oh wait…
