The GM Authority Take

The slight drop in GM Mexico sales during December interrupted the company’s growth path in the Latin American country, after having recorded a substantial double-digit increase in November. The commercial setback during the last month of the 2024 calendar year subtracted 340 units from the automaker’s bottom line, though it didn’t affect the positive performance for the year, which saw a notable double-digit increase throughout last year.

Chevy Aveo

The drop in December was caused by a decrease in deliveries in half of Chevy’s models in that country, including several nameplates that are typically among the brand’s top five bestsellers. Among them, the Chevy Onix was hit the hardest with a substantial drop of more than 1,600 units year-over-year. The Chevy Captiva and Chevy Groove also saw significant double-digit losses.

Chevy Tornado Van

However, the other half of the bowtie brand’s models achieved saw healthy gains, with the new Chevy Aveo once again leading the list. The subcompact car consolidated its position as the manufacturer’s best-selling model in the Mexican market, once again surpassing the 6,000-unit mark for the second consecutive month. Also noteworthy was the performance of the Chevy Tornado Van, which was Chevy’s second most popular model during the month.

Beyond Chevrolet, Cadillac‘s crossover line plus GMC‘s latest launches registered strong gains.
