Just days after ending the brand’s pre-centennial marketing campaign in the country, General Motors announced the celebration of Chevrolet‘s 100 years of operations in Brazil.
The automaker is celebrating Chevrolet’s 100th anniversary in Brazil in style, with a special ceremony during which it announced bold plans for the short and medium-term future in the South American country. The company officially celebrated its centenary on January 26th, consolidating its position as the carmaker with the longest period of continuous operation in Brazil with Chevrolet as the most established and beloved vehicle brand by Brazilians.
“GM’s centennial in Brazil marks one of the most significant moments of transformation in our history,” said GM South America President, Santiago Chamorro. “We will continue to innovate, always focused on offering solutions that connect people to what really matters, in a more personalized and agile way, to meet new consumer demands,” he added.
The ceremony celebrating the company’s centennial and its Chevrolet brand in Brazil was attended by customers, employees, distributors, suppliers and several GM leaders. Also in attendance were Brazil’s vice president Geraldo Alckmin and the governors of states where the company has its manufacturing base. GM revealed that it will further expand its investments through 2028, diversify its business and launch 10 electrified models in the coming years.
Since its arrival in Brazil on January 26th, 1925, GM has manufactured nearly 20 million Chevrolet vehicles in its facilities in the country, and one in five cars sold in the local market is from the bowtie brand. With the highest average number of launches in history, Chevy’s successful trajectory in Brazil includes iconic models with more than one million units sold, such as the Chevy Opala, Chevette, Corsa, Celta, S10 and Onix, which have transcended the lives of tens of millions of Brazilians.
“The passion for our Chevrolet brand in Brazil is unmatched. It is part of the country’s history – and we have exciting plans for the future,” said GM Senior Vice President and President at GM International, Shilpan Amin. “Brazil is Chevrolet’s third-largest market in the world and continues to be a priority for GM globally. We look forward to continuing to build on our deep legacy in Brazil by bringing new vehicles and technologies to our customers,” he finished.
