A dark green exterior car color named Evergreen Sprint has been chosen by industrial paint and coating manufacturer Axalta Coating Systems as its 2025 Automotive Color of the Year, the 11th annual tint selected by the company for this distinction.
Evergreen Sprint is the second green car color Axalta has made Color of the Year, and is described as “a rich, deep forest green that pays homage to the legendary British racing green, a shade that has graced the finest racing machines and symbolizes speed and performance.”
Green is gaining in popularity in recent months as a car color, according to Axalta studies. This is why Evergreen Sprint was chosen, though only 2 percent of new vehicles worldwide currently feature a green exterior color. The manufacturer’s marketing director, Dan Benton, said the dark green tint is a “dynamic color” that “is sure to attract the attention of passionate drivers.”
Benton also said the color “evokes the spirit of performance, competition and adventure.” Interestingly, this description would be a good match for the high-performance V-series and Blackwing variants of the 2025 Cadillac CT4 and 2025 Cadillac CT5 sedans. And, sure enough, both the CT4 colors and the CT5 colors for 2025 include Typhoon Metallic (color code GBW), a car color closely matching Evergreen Sprint.
Previous car color choices of the year from Axalta include a yellow-green exterior paint color, ElectroLight, for 2021, which was touted as high-visibility for autonomous vehicle detection. In 2022, Royal Magenta was the pick, with no GM paint color at the time matching it even approximately.
For 2023 Techno Blue took the spotlight, evoking virtual reality, but again having no real GM equivalent. However, 2024’s color of the year, Starry Night, a black paint with metallic flake, may be echoed in Deep Space Metallic (color code GAI). Deep Space is a very dark blue/gray GM paint with gold metallic flake which once again appears on the 2025 Cadillac CT4-V and other CT4/CT5 sedans – hinting that GM may be following Axalta’s trend recommendations more closely for 2024 and 2025 models.
Let us know what you think of Evergreen Sprint. Do you feel it has an adventurous, thrilling, dynamic look? Should it be offered on more models across GM’s product portfolio? Share your comments with us and other readers below.

“Enterprise Rental Car company would like to thank the committee for this wonderful recognition….”
Well deserved recognition for a gorgeous color. Needs to spread like wildfire to other gm brands. Immediately.
I’d have to see GMs actual color but this is, yes, gorgeous. We need more greens and blues, but NOT the hideous screaming-at-you ones that automakers think/thought would be all the rage. Don’t know what on earth they were thinking, to go from boring to screaming in no time flat.
Yet the brain trusts at GM leave it off every model, if it was on the 2025 enclaves I’d have one yesterday
we like green colours
Earthy tones in general are nice to see.
The evergreen metallic from 20/21 CT5 series is a much better match to British Racing Green. Typhoon metallic is not a dark color and does not look great in daylight.
The new green would look great with tan interior and bronze wheels, both available options on the ’25 model.
We need this on Silverado !!!!!

My 2014 Stingray is green…..Lime Rock Green to be exact. Although I get many compliments on the appearance of the car, it was the least popular color that year with only 15xx cars out of 37xxx built. I hope it does better.
