Chevy Silverado Doesn’t Get GMC Sierra’s High-End Dash Setup

The Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are essentially identical when it comes to the engine and platform, but when it comes to interior design, there are a few differences worth pointing out. Most notably, the Silverado offers two distinct dashboard designs, whereas the Sierra offers a third, high-end luxury option that isn’t available in the Silverado lineup. Now, we’re breaking down the differences between the two Silverado dash designs, while also highlighting the Sierra’s high-end luxury dash.

Chevy Silverado base dash

Base Dashboard (WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss)

The base dashboard in the Chevy Silverado can be found in WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss trims, and is designed for simplicity and utility. When it comes to infotainment features, the base dash runs a seven-inch color touchscreen and a 3.5-inch Driver Information Center. Naturally, the focus here is on functionality, with straightforward controls and minimal embellishments, thus catering to buyers who use their truck primarily for work, or for those buyers who simply want the basics.

Chevy Silverado premium dash

Premium Dashboard (LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, High Country)

The premium dashboard is available on higher Chevy Silverado trims, and kicks things up with a 13.4-inch infotainment system and 12.3-inch Driver Information Center. This setup enhances the Silverado’s tech-forward appeal with a refined design that balances of luxury and usability, including horizontally mounted screens and more premium materials.

What The Silverado Lacks: The GMC Sierra’s Luxury Dashboard

The Sierra also offers a third, even more luxurious dashboard design. Available exclusively for the GMC Sierra AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate, this configuration shares the 13.4-inch infotainment and 12.3-inch Driver Information Center equipped with the premium dash design, but adds distinctive upgrades like premium stitching, additional air vents, and a center stack the meshes seamlessly with the center console. Notably, the luxury dash is not available with a bench seat layout, unlike the base and premium dashes.

  1. GMC boys can keep their Ham massagers. Give us Super Cruise on the ZR2 and a Pano

    1. Pass, no need for a pano roof, point of failure and lowers payload. Honestly, the ZR2 needs to lose a bunch of features so it isn’t an image purchase from suburban guys like you. Take away the luxurious box checker options and it becomes a package for those guys who actually need and use it. No reason the ZR2 should cost as much as the luxury trims or more. Same with the AT4X, they should be based on lower end trims with some packages for convenience, but the image buying suburban crowd isn’t taking this thing off road where oil field, lumber and other works do and could use these tools.

  2. Wait till 2026. Chevy got the six-way multi-functional tailgate after GMC bragged about it for a year…so why not wait until Chevy gets the fancy dashboard?

  3. At least there’s a couple of differences for the same truck other than badges.

    1. There’s more to it than badges.

The fascias are completely different between Silverado and Sierra, as is the sheetmetal on the front quarters and doors.

    1. And long bed in higher trim, not just an ugly work truck!

  6. GM’s disregard for the safety for majority of consumers over marketing for high end consumers should be an embarrassment to GM marketing. I have gone from a Ram Laramie to a High Country. To see heater controls on the HC one has to lean and lower your head over the console to see the controls. On the other side one has to put your head against the window to see the the light and 4x4controls. GM put marketing ahead of consumer safety.

  7. Let’s face it. The more horn & whistles & bells to break
The more it cost to fix
Now I have a 15 Silverado LTZ and the digitizer failed and it’s no longer a deal item
The cost was about $20.00 on Amazon now I have to find the time to replace it

  8. The Silverado LT trail bus needs electric seat on the passenger side. For what you pay for it, it should be standard.

  9. I really miss the way buying a truck was in the 70s and 80s: order just what you want from the dealer, 6 weeks later you had just what you want. Now, my needs have changed. I would like a high end truck ICE, 2 wheel drive, tan carpet, beige/tan leather seats, some wood trim here and there and no black trim anywhere. Not available! Why? Surely I’m not the only one who doesn’t like black carpet.
