Chevy Cruze Driver Runs Red Light, T-Bones Jeep: Video

The holidays are a notoriously dangerous time to be on the road, with many folks rushing to get from one place to the next, or perhaps even sliding behind the wheel when they really shouldn’t. Either way, it’s important to stay vigilant, because things can go sideways very quickly. That much is evident in the following video, which shows a Chevy Cruze running a red light before slamming into a Jeep Liberty.

The video was recently posted to social media, and was captured by the dash cam of another vehicle. Per the post, the incident occurred in Indianapolis on Christmas Day, 2024, around 2:00 p.m. local time.

In the video we see wet, rain-soaked streets, with grey skies above. There’s minimal traffic, as one might expect on Christmas Day.

As the video progresses, we see a white Chevy Cruze sedan pass the vehicle with the dash cam. The dash cam overlay indicates its traveling over 30 mph, which is a bit faster than the 25 mph speed limit, meaning the Chevy Cruze is speeding.

The sedan is seen rolling ahead of the dash cam vehicle as the two approach another intersection. The dash cam vehicle starts to slow down for the red light, but the driver in the Chevy Cruze continues ahead, seemingly unaware that they are about to sail right through the light.

Just as the Chevy Cruze enters the intersection, we see traffic enter the frame on the righthand side. A second-generation Jeep Liberty charges ahead, and the brake lights on the Chevy Cruze illuminate. Unfortunately, the two vehicles collide, with the front end of the Chevy Cruze hitting the front driver’s side door of the Jeep.

The impact causes the Jeep to immediately roll, sending it on top of its roof before it comes to a rest back on its four wheels. Meanwhile, the front end of the Chevy is crumpled in.

According to the individual who posted the video, the footage was emailed to the police in the hopes that it would demonstrate what happened and who was at fault.

  1. Red light runners should be fined at least $1000 and do jail time if they T-bone another vehicle. That’s the most dangerous type of automobile crash and causes the most injuries. Same as shoplifting, if they were jailed, it would stop pretty quick.
