The CT5-V Blackwing continues to cradle a single powerplant under the hood, specifically the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine. This potent powerplant is rated at a scorching 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. It is mated as standard to the GM six-speed manual transmission, with the GM 10-speed automatic transmission optionally available.

The GM Alpha 2 platform provides the bones for the luxury performance sedan under the sheet metal. The GM Lansing Grand River plant is the vehicle’s site of production.

  1. These cars have gotten out of control in pricing! GM is using a 11 year old engine, and 8 year old transmission in these things. $100k for a 4 door sedan! Come on, these should be priced in the low $70k’s fully loaded all day long.

    1. The Gen 2 CTS-Vs were in the low $70K range fully loaded. They crossed over into $100K range with the Gen 3 CTS-V and haven’t looked back since.
Granted, there is waaaay more tech/upgrades in the latest models but agreed, pricing has gotten pricier!
