The luxurious High Country trim was mysteriously missing from the lineup of the redesigned 2024 Chevy Traverse. However, it wasn’t gone for long. After a one-year hiatus, a new High Country trim has arrived for the 2025 Chevy Traverse, at least for its home market.
GM Authority has learned that Canada will not get the 2025 Chevy Traverse High Country. Canucks who want a luxurious Traverse need to either settle for a well-equipped RS model or upgrade to a GMC Acadia Denali or Buick Enclave Avenir.
Another difference in the Canadian-market Traverse is standard all-wheel drive. Of course, the Z71 trim has standard AWD in both the U.S. and Canada, but the LS and RS trims also have standard AWD in Canada.
Canada actually isn’t missing out on very much by not getting the Traverse High Country. In following the Y-shaped trim structure that’s sweeping through GM, the differences between the RS and High Country trims are primarily aesthetic. In fact, for the USDM lineup, the Traverse High Country is actually a little cheaper than the Traverse RS. Both trims have perforated leather interiors, but the High Country has two exclusive interior colorways (Jet Black with Bronze accents (RPO code HQQ) and Jet Black with Sky Cool Gray accents (RPO code HQM).
In the States, the 2025 Chevy Traverse High Country is priced from $54,995 with front-wheel drive and $56,995 with all-wheel drive (pricing figures include the $1,395 destination charge).
In Canada, it’s more common for Chevy to share dealerships with the Buick and GMC brands than it is in the U.S. That fact would make the 2025 Chevy Traverse High Country a little redundant with its platform-mates sharing the same dealerships, namely the aforementioned GMC Acadia Denali and Buick Enclave Avenir. This product strategy further differentiates GMC and Buick as premium brands compared to the more mainstream and budget-friendly Bowtie brand.
Under the hood, the 2025 Chevy Traverse is powered by the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine and once again rides on the GM C1-2 platform. Production takes place at GM’s Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.
