Cadillac CT4 sales in Q3 2024 moved up a spot in its segment compared to the previous quarter when ranked by sales volume, though sales were in the red.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class moved into second place with a 69 percent leap to 4,717 units. The GM Authority Take
Cadillac CT4 moved up a spot in its segment segment not because of something it did right, but rather because of the dismal performance of the Audi A3, which fell to last place in the segment as it undergoes the launch of the updated model.
GM Authority has confirmed that there will be a 2026 Cadillac CT4, though it will be largely unchanged from the model that launched in 2020. The small sedan has quickly become the luxury marque’s worst-selling model in the U.S., followed by its slightly bigger sibling, the Cadillac CT5. Here in Q3 2024, the CT4 moved 4,900 units year-to-date, while the CT5 posted 10,991 deliveries.
Even so, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is among Car and Driver’s 10Best Cars for 2025, appearing on the 10Best list for the fourth time. C&D called it “brilliantly tuned, hilariously powerful,” and “a masterpiece of a sport sedan.” While the CT4-V Blackwing’s specs are impressive, if not industry leading, what makes the car really special is “its broad range of capability, as well as the finesse and nuance it brings to the everyday task of being exciting and rewarding to drive anytime, anywhere, on any road, at any speed.”
Perhaps the problem with sales is market awareness (or lack thereof) of the CT4 across the marketplace.
About Cadillac CT4
The 2025 Cadillac CT4 luxury sedan debuts the sixth model year of the nameplate’s first generation, introducing only a few minor changes and updates, such as paint color changes for the CT4 and the CT4-V.
The 2025 CT4 has a very diverse color palette. Check out the 2025 CT4 non-V-Series paint colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels. Here are 2025 CT4-V paint colors, the interior colorways, and available wheels, along with 2025 CT4-V Blackwing paint colors.
The 2025 CT4 is driven by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated to GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B and GM 10-speed automatic transmission, rated at 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, is an option on the Premium Luxury trim.
Meanwhile, the L3B engine powering the CT4-V is rated at 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque and employs the 10-speed automatic transmission. The CT4-V also gets Performance Traction Management with Launch Control included as standard, along with Magnetic Ride Control and an electronic limited-slip differential.
Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional on all these variants.
Meanwhile, the 2025 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing represents the fourth model year for the high-performance sedan, unveiling a new limited-run variant, namely the Petit Pataud Edition, as part of the ongoing luxury marque’s Collector Series portfolio.
The 2025 CT4-V Blackwing again runs the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 gasoline engine, rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The GM six-speed manual transmission is standard, while the 10-speed auto is optional – both exclusively power the rear wheels.
A decade later, Cadillac still offers the choice of manual or automatic transmissions.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS. YOU PPL AREN’T PAYING ATTENTION WHEN YOU ARE HANDED A GIFT.
GM is making a mistake by producing these EVs, we want options, we want traditional ICEVs, we also want them at a good price. Shame how out of touch GM has become. After half a century of buying Cadillacs, I’m going to have to go to a different brand. \s
How could Marry Barra let this happen! \s
Greed!
Doug, the “we” you’re talking about is a small and shrinking market. The greater public has spoken and when it wants Cadillacs, it wants XT4’s, XT5’s and Escalades. And Lyriqs. GM is out of touch? Their sales were up in 2024 on the basis of SUV’s and CUV’s Time to recognize that you’re now part of a small group of enthusiasts that GM no longer wishes to serve.
By the way… when you see \s online that means sarcasm. Doug Dimmadome was clearly mocking the rest of the keyboard warriors on this site.
A purchase is a vote.
just maybe it would help to advertise the car in commercials?
I see ads for this car and other Cadillacs all the time on TV, YouTube, social media.
Yet they killed the Camaro with much better sales numbers at this same plant. How in the world does this plant stay open? Oh yeah, going to convert it to all electric which majority of most customers don’t want.
Wow. How long did it take you to talk every customer to figure out that most don’t want EVs??
Davy – to answer your question: the Camaro was a mainstream product with tighter margins than the CT4, so it can survive with lower volume.
That said, how low can it go?
1. CT4 needs to be affordable.
2. It needs a refresh just like CT5. Front end redesign and updated interior.
GM isn’t investing in the CT4 because there is no future EV variant planned.
Is anyone from Detroit going to supply us West Coast/Bay Area gm fans with any selection?
The CT4 we looked at was a nice car. However, the dealer only had 2!! – both black.
Hence, we went back to the BMW dealer – who had a HUGE selection – and went with the 3-Series.
Will try Cadillac again in two years and see if they have anything available by then.
If GM isn’t working on a new CT4 and is just using the current iteration as a 2026 model, that means that it’s dead. Sad. What GM needs to do is use the same Alpha 2 platform and make a new CT4 and a new CT5 that are a little bigger in length.
How about a normal sized sedan with a V8. We don’t need more small, hard to get into, station wagons with 4 cylinder engines.
If you want a normal sized sedan with a V8, the first order of business would be to replace Mary Buick Envision Made in China-Barra and that fake executive Mark Reuss.
So many issues! 1: no inventory = no sales! 2: on sale since May 2019 with barely any updates indicates no interest from the manufacturer, which then spills over to the customers. 3: No advertising that I’ve ever seen, despite the BW being named to Car & Driver 10 Best ever since it came out. 4: An update was seen in prototypes with the updated dash 2 years ago, but still nowhere to be found! Also needs updated front, and especially rear styling! Epic fail! 5: Still with a bizarre product strategy. Sport with only the anemic engine/8 speed auto and standard handling makes no sense. The CT4-V performs well, but sounds terrible, and has poor interior colors, as well as zero inventory. 6: The 8 inch screen is now lagging behind even econoboxes from nearly every manufacturer, including GM (Trax, Envista) = epic fail!
I currently drive a 2017 ATS-V 6 sp, and am interested in a BW, but not with the same outdated tech in 2025 that I had with my 2013 ATS! It’s too bad Cadillac/GM management is so clueless. It could be a way better car with better sales if they would just update it, and get it out there.
Near zero advertising budget equals low sales. A higher advertising budget will increase sales. Mary Buick Envision Made in China-Barra is looking for an excuse to pull the plug on this vehicle by choosing the former.
Not enough advertising on the cars, not much on SUVs either.
People start out with a car, increase family size/income then
buy the bigger stuff, so no cars may hurt SUV sales in the long run.
Dealers are not stocking CT4 + CT5 or the 1 or 2 they have are loaded
to a higher cost than desired.
The 2025 CT5 has Super Cruise standard, increasing the cost $5-8,000.
That doesn’t help sales. Don’t do that to the CT4.
GM should offer the stick in other trim levels aside from the Blackwing. Normal people are buying SUV’s and electric /hybrid vehicle’s, car people still like to buy cars, not suv’s.
Cadillac no 1 problem is the lack of distention and customer service and priority as GM’s flagship marque. Having the brand sold alongside Chevrolet in a Cadillac corner is a marketing mistake that is perplexing for a brand that’s over 120 years old. Reducing the number of dealers by buying them out was also a mistake. All Cadillac dealers should be stand alone stores with much tighter dealer oversight as well as proper customer service excellence training. Nothing short of a 5 star visit that would make going to a Lexus, Porsche, Rolls Royce and Bentley feel like a Walmart visit vs Neiman Marcus. Also listen to your customer and the competition’s as well. Not only do you give them what they want as Cadillac you do something more which is exceed their expectations not only staying complacent. Reinvent the luxury car experience by making in the most ultra customer oriented brand that no other brand has even tried. Starting from corporate to the factory to the dealer. That would be a small investment that would cost very little but reap high rewards. As America’s oldest luxury brand and former Standard of the World and being a marque that has consistently lost market shares in the U.S. since the 1970s GM/Cadillac should know better and learned from it’s mistakes and corrected this long , long ago. If you aren’t listening to customers, dealers and the automotive press you are not only out of touch but s bit delusional. You can not rest on your laurels you always exceed your own standards. Even if you are no. 1 you can’t take it for granted and never stop striving for a better evolving product and experience. That starts with a brand enthusiasm that values employees and customers. Realizing they are not a disposable commodity but your company may be.
