Beverly Hillbillies Oldsmobile Truck And Hot Rod Heading To Auction

Not one, but three Oldsmobile models themed on the classic TV sitcom “The Beverly Hillbillies” are headed to the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2025 auction. One of them is a replica, but the other two were really on the old TV show. All three come from the Dr. Stewart A. Berkowitz Collection.

First up is a 1921 Oldsmobile Model 46 truck built and signed by George Barris of Barris Kustom Industries. It was one of five cars of its kind built for the show, and this one also appeared in the 1993 Beverly Hillbillies movie. Its chassis is sourced from a vintage Ford truck, but its body is that of a 1921 Olds. Known as the “HayWagon Jalopy,” the beloved Clampett family and their supplies, such as barrels of Granny’s “rheumatism medicine,” are transported by the Olds.

It’s previously been on display at the Hollywood Star Cars Museum in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, California. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a title, it’s being sold on bill of sale.

Next up is another 1921 Oldsmobile, but this one is Jethro’s hot rod. It’s heavily modified with a V8 sourced from a 1969 Oldsmobile 442, chassis upgrades, Cragar chrome wheels with Firestone Indy Super Sport tires, a custom exhaust system, and a custom interior.

The third Beverly Hillbillies car going to auction is a replica of the HayWagon Jalopy built on a modified 1921 Ford Model T. This one isn’t as screen-accurate as the others, but it does come with an Indiana title that was issued in 1924, so it’s theoretically street-legal.

It’s a little hard to predict the cash value of the cars that were really on the old show. In 2005, a different jalopy from the 1993 Beverly Hillbillies movie sold via Bonhams for $55,200. It’s a safe bet that the one from the show that ran from 1962-1971 is more valuable than that.

Car collectors who are fans of the show can bid on these cars when they go up for auction in Scottsdale. The event runs from Saturday, January 18th through Sunday, January 26th.
