General Motors announced that the all-new second-generation Cadillac XT5 has been awarded the 2024 ICE Vehicle of the Year in China during a special awards event over the weekend, hosted by social media platform Weibo and China-based outlet Sina Auto. The all-new 2025 XT5 beat out a distinguished field of competitors, spanning all body styles and segments, as the top combustion-engined vehicle in the Chinese market.

“This award is proud recognition for an amazing product and the tens of thousands of individuals here in China and across the globe who brought it to life,” said Vice President of Cadillac China, Will Stacy. “China is a core market for Cadillac’s global strategy. We are committed to providing Chinese consumers our highest-quality products and services. The award for the all-new XT5 will serve as inspiration for the future of Cadillac here in China,” he added.

In particular, the Weibo and Sina Auto 2024 ICE Vehicle of the Year award was given to the all-new Cadillac XT5 based on votes obtained in the social network’s annual car election, in which both specialized journalists and millions of users participated. As such, the all-new, fully redesigned XT5 has been selected from more than 150 models that were launched in China during the 2024 calendar year.

During the official nomination event, SINA Corporation’s sister companies Weibo and Sina Auto praised the new Cadillac XT5’s bold styling, modern interior and solid content, including the exclusive AKG sound system, as well as its incredible chassis and tuning across the lineup. In addition, the crossover stands out for its extensive equipment of cutting-edge technologies and its highly competitive positioning within the luxury segment.

The all-new Cadillac XT5 has enjoyed high acceptance and very positive reviews since its introduction in China late last year, becoming one of Cadillac’s most popular models in the country. The new XT5 has received more than 20,000 orders, and more than 15,000 units have been delivered since the model’s local launch, with a class-leading average transaction price as more than 60 percent of customers have chosen the top-of-the-line trim levels.

  2. GM needs to bring back the xt5 to America. We are stuck with the same body style since 2017 and it’s time for a new XT5.Why is China getting it and not US?🥵🤬

    1. Why China and not U.S.?

      1. Politics. Hate of China runs deep so GM makes its best selling ICE suvs in Korea.
      2. This XT5 would be so popular it would demolish Cadillac’s EV program. GM wants to phase out ICE, not expand it.

  3. Bring the revised XT5 to America and figure a way to make it here in the USA! Not everybody needs or wants an electric vehicle.

  4. I can’t believe the revised XT5 isn’t available in the US. That is an absolutely gorgeous car. I would buy that in a heartbeat. Make mine Crystal White Metallic with the red interior in the photo above. It would be stunning!!!!

I just don’t understand Cadillac’s “China First” strategy

    1. Because they buy it and we don’t, pretty simple really…

Mark, it is already built there, just ship it over. No need to produce it here in the lower numbers it will sell, that will just drive up the cost and give GM a reason to discontinue it after slower sales. Would you rather have it or not?

      1. I’d buy one tomorrow as my 2012 SRX is ready for replacement! I guess politically, importing from China is not an issue since the majority of the Buick lineup is doing so. Cadillac wants to be #1 in electronic luxury sales, but if the incentives are removed to buying electric, Cadillac will be sucking wind.

      2. I don’t think they can just ship it over. Its not built to US regulations

        1. Actually it’s almost the exact same chassis. They really could just ship some over here. That really shows what they think of XT5 customers.

    2. Twi reasons Market share growth. Also introduce them there the first year and then when they get here the bugs are fixed. The Chinese are more forgiving on issues.

Yes, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is manufactured in China at the Changan Ford Hangzhou Assembly plant. This marks a shift from its previous production location in Canada.
