500-Mile Version Of Ram 1500 REV Pickup Seemingly Axed

The most bragged-about feature of the upcoming Ram 1500 REV electric full-size truck appears to be canceled. According to Mopar Insiders, the long-range model with a 229 kWh battery pack that was supposed to get a 500-mile range rating is no longer happening.

In an email obtained by Mopar Insiders, Stellantis asked suppliers to “immediately cease all activities related to” the long-range Ram 1500 REV. The email specifies that development is only being paused for the truck’s long-range variant.

To clarify, the Ram 1500 REV has not been canceled entirely. Only the long-range model with the purported 500-mile max range appears to have been canceled. The standard-range model, estimated to go 350 miles on a full charge, is still in the cards for 2026.

Ram’s own promotional materials corroborate the evidence uncovered by Mopar Insiders. A glance at the consumer-facing Ram website shows no indication of a 500-mile range for the Ram 1500 REV. It only shows a “standard driving range” of 350 miles.

The long-range Ram 1500 REV is likely being killed by cannibalization. The upcoming Ram 1500 Ramcharger EREV (extended-range electric vehicle) plug-in hybrid truck is estimated to have a 690-mile range with a full battery and a full tank of gas, plus a max tow rating of 14,000 pounds. With the Ramcharger being an electrified truck suitable for long-haul towing, it makes the 500-mile range option for the all-electric Ram 1500 REV a bit redundant.

The apparent cancellation of the 500-mile-range Ram 1500 REV secures the Chevy Silverado EV’s place as the longest-range electric pickup truck for a while longer. The longest-range version of the Silverado EV is the 8WT model getting a 492-mile range, and the RST model can go up to 460 miles on a full charge (same as the GMC Sierra EV Denali). Meanwhile, the max range rating for other rivals is 320 miles for the Ford F-150 Lightning, 440 miles for the Tesla Cybertruck, and 420 miles for the Rivian R1T.

Although GM will remain the king of all-electric truck range, it has nothing in the cards to compete with the plug-in hybrid Ram 1500 Ramcharger, which will be unique in the growing market of electrified pickups. Orders will open for the Ramcharger in the first half of 2025, and the REV is on track to launch sometime in 2026.

    1. I don’t think so, but if for some reason they haven’t been updating/advancing their V8s the past few years, it may be.

  3. When these automakers come looking for another bailout, I hope they let them bust. Their stupidity and delusional EV decisions have been very telling. They caused their own problems.

    1. They should ask China for a bailout this time.

  4. Ram is figuring out NOT EVERYONE needs EV’s shoved down their throats and be forced by a certain “year” to be driving one. Stop with the nonsense. The majority of people have spoken the past 3 years on the EV push and it states, give us more ICE vehicles.

I want GM to offer an ICE performance truck, suv, 4 door sedan, and muscle car. Get some excitement back into GM. The Corvette is all they have.

A GM dealership was giving my buddy grief, because he bought a TRX, he stated, “does GM offer a performance truck with 700 hp?” The salesman didn’t know what to say, but NO. He said exactly!

    1. Even as freaking Zuckerburg of all people has finally noticed lately, “I think a lot of the corporate world is pretty culturally neutered,” Zuckerberg said on a Joe Rogan podcast appearance on Jan. 10. “It’s one thing to say we want to be kind of, like, welcoming and make a good environment for everyone, and I think it’s another to basically say that ‘masculinity is bad.’”

    2. So no EVs for anyone? According to you, it’s time to shove 700hp ICEs down everyone’s throat!

Apparently those on the planet can’t expect a greener lifestyle because you’re entitled to 700 hp behemoths. You probably also think it’s appropriate for people with asthma to breathe the toxic fumes from modified diesel Rams that spew black smoke for no reason?

Btw, GM offers several options near or exceeding 700 hp and all way more impressive then the dead TRX. Why didn’t you buy the Camaro before it was terminated? What about the Blackwing sedans? Escalade V? Sierra, Silverado, Hummer or Escalade IQs? Next you’ll complain that GM doesn’t discount them to $25k because you’re entitled to a freeebie.

Wow, your buddy buys a Ram but then goes and hangs out at a GM dealership? How lame is that? Couldn’t Ram fix it for him so he went to GM for help?

      1. NOBODY has proposed forcing anyone to buy V8s. MANY have proposed and already passed regulations and mandates to make EVs the pivot option to buy. You’re nuts.

      2. @GMC fan
You must not be much of a GMC fan because GM doesn’t make a 700hp camaro it was rated at 650hp. The Escalade is rated at 682hp and the Blackwing is 668 hp. They don’t offer a sports truck from factory with anything than 435 hp with exhaust/CAI. You sure know what your talking about

I am not talking about an over priced and over weight pig in the electric hummer, silverado, or sierra.

My buddy has his own business and the GM store brings him cars to tint. He was there dropping one off. So you’re as knowledgeable as your previous post, makes you look even more foolish!!!
